OK, so I've just installed these bulbs and.... they were a bit of an anti-climax.
You've all seen the pics of the 3 series above with the same bulbs, but the ones on my 1 series do not look nearly as bright.
I guess its hard to judge by pictures, but the pictures below tell a very different story. I'm pretty sure I've installed them correctly, seeing as they only go in one way, and the tests were done with full power DRLs.

LEDs:
ps: I am aware that the LEDs pulse and this may affect what the camera sees, but I adjusted to a longer exposure thing to grab a few pulses, so what you see here is what it looks like with your own eyes.
As you can see, the outer ring barely even lights up, and this was taken at 4 pm in the afternoon in the shade on a sunny day.
I'm a bit unsure why one of the LEDs faces completely upwards away from the light conductor to the outer rings. The design seems questionable. But in any case, I rotated them in multiple directions while installing and their orientation doesn't make much of a difference to the brightness.
I guess its all part of the learning curve, but I was looking forward to these working well during the day, especially after seeing some promising pictures posted earlier here and on the 'coming soon' thread. Perhaps its just the design of the 1 series headlights, who knows.
I'm going to give these a bash for a week, but if I'm not satisfied, I think I'll sell to someone who has a beemer which takes better advantage of the LEDs. Please PM me if you're interested in any case.
I still thank Rennzport for the easy and speedy service!
