Hey guys I'm new here hope I'm not duplicating posts.
I have a 530D ....my steering system has a hydraulic problem ...my steering wheel slowly goes off center until its done full circle prolly gone around 10 times in 5 years ....It's obviously in the hydraulic steering box ...someone said to check the splines maybe slipping but i dont see any splines ....who will be able to check or change this box ...my wife loves her BMW 530D and wants to fix it .

Hi Rob, welcome! On the E60 the splines are down just above the steering rack where the steering connects to the rack. Check if that nut is tight although saying that, it has a indent in the shaft that prevents it from turning or slipping if the nut is not tight. The other splines are at the steering wheel itself. Take the steering wheel off and check if the splines are damaged.

Hey Solo Man ....I don't think it's anything to do with splines....cause I sure I'd be able to feel it .... but I have however seen a video which refers to a wheel centering mechanism which is situated below the actual steering wheel....can that cause the steering wheel to actually move 360° in a week ....I saw a guy cleaning it out .....I'm wondering whether that could be the reason ....?
