318Ti woes

Fine so a couple of weeks back i took the TI to SAC for a Diagnostic test and coz there was a whistling sound coming from the engine. They worked on car and charged me R2500ish for replacing a housing breather or something like that which costs about R500ish. The test showed that the positioning sensor on the camshaft needs replacing which they quoted me R4500 I call the stealers and find out the sensors cost R1400. Bottom line I did not replace it.

After i took delivery of the TI i noticed that my old issue which i thought i had sorted out whereby when i am idling the car revs itself to like a 1500 revs then comes down again. I bought a flippin brand new valvetronic for that problem before why would it suddenly creep up now :banghead:. Drove back to SAC they blamed the problem on the "positioning sensor on the camshaft".

So i took the car to GP Motors for a 2nd opinion they did a Diag test and it showed the valvetronic again.

So i took it to a mech my parts contact recommended and he called me now to tell me its the Oil level sensor R1700 with 25%discount. ohh and my Control arm bushes are gone R2174 exl vat for a set.

Have you tried Gizmo ? ( Warren ) 0832540344 .
What happens if you unplug sensor and start car ?
How is idle speed controlled ?
Luckily E36 has idle control vale that can be cleaned in paraffin and is ok again .
