Good progress bud. Glad to see the TLC taking place. Was your valve cover cracked?

Also just so you aware...if you swopping out with bmw, you get a lukker discount for handing in old turbos, but bear in mind, you not given "BRAND NEW ". BMW will give you refurbished turbos, which they market as new. This has been confirmed by various sources locally and abroad. However, it is better for piece of mind if your cores were also gone.

You are making great progress and really reviving a great car.

It is sad to see in which state some great cars are even when they're fairly new and owned by "fanatics".

Once you sort out all that you need to you will have peace of mind and a really great car:coolShake:

Thank you and thanks guys for all the kind words, this is becoming quite the journey. How to break someone into the N54 world properly and bankrupt them at the same time lol.

Hmmm I am not sure if the valve cover was cracked or not, I guess I will find out soon enough. I wouldn't be surprised if it is by the way things are going so far.

I did read that they give you refurbished turbos however I did ask the guy if I am getting brand new and he assured me they will be brand new, I guess I will find out soon enough. Thing is at least they are giving me a warranty on them for a year. They also know who is fitting them so there wont be any discrepancies if something should go wrong like the last time with my 330d where the brand new turbo lasted a total of 3 days and failed and bmw were not interested as they never fitted it and I never bought it from them I bought it from a forum member who bought it from a BMW sale in cape town.

I decided I am not going to hide anything I find on this Z4 cause I am fixing it all anyways.

This is the reason my xenon headlights were facing the ground. :smashScreen:

I actually have no words for seeing something like this on a Z4 35i This is a premium car that sold for almost a bar brand new. To see stuff like this actually kills my soul. Never mind the stuffed up exhaust...To see my headlight auto adjuster sensor held in place with a shoddy mangled piece of copper wire really makes me question things about this car.

This was a shock to my system to say the least.

:RedNo: That's crazy man... :thumbdo:

For your sake I hope there isn't too much more you find like that.

Was it you I passed on the weekend close to Monte (between Crawford and Monte)? Was also a black on black Z4 that looked absolutely beautiful.... *** Obviously couldn't have been you - as you are effectively engineless!!! My bad ***

Best of luck again man. Sending you some good Karma. Can't believe all the sh*t you've had to sort out so far...

Very detailed thread. As an ex E89 owner myself, I find it particularly interesting.
Best of luck getting everything sorted.

Thanks guys, Who knows what else I'm going to find lol

I won't lie its making me a very moody and easily agitated person to be around at the moment. <--- somehow that sounds like bad english....don't really care right now.

I received the "New" turbos this morning from BMW and dropped them off with my Mechanic. Definitely look refurbished to me but at least they come with a 2 year warranty from BMW.

Here are some photos:

Guys once this job is complete and I get my car back where is the best place I can take the car to get checked properly to see if this has all been done correctly.

Would taking it to BMW be a good option? or is there another place I could send it to?

They've done the last couple things on my E60. Could not be happier with the service and work done

Sweet that's good to hear because I have lost allot of faith in mechanics after this. Would much rather go to the agents from now on for things like this!
