2002 Facelift 325i M

Hi Everyone

I need some help please!
My car's idling rises-and-drops, rises-and-drops, and sometimes even stalls (intermittently) when I stop at stops or robots. At first I thought it was because of the automatic choke, but I later realised that it was not the case. I replaced the idling valve which a couple of people have told me to do, but that didn't solve it. It is starting to happen more regularly.

Also, the first hard acceleration after the engine heated to running temperature goes with a big jerk and then she pulls.

Note: I have not yet removed the catalytic convertors:bangdesk:

Get the car to someone who run diagnostics and read the codes. You probably have a vacuum leak, or maybe a sensor fault (e.g. cam position sensor). Fault codes will point you in the right direction.

MAF?

disconnect it and see what happens, car should run fine except for higher fuel consumption.

vacumm leak also a good possibilty

 Thank you, that worked. I know now that the "Air flow sensor" is at fault. It will cost me R6150.00(BMW) or R2350.00(Bemo Spares) to fix it. Regards

That does not automatically mean its the fault.

Without a MAF signal, you go into a default map, all that this means is that your MAF has not gone open circuit.

Diagnostics is still the best,

Your best bet here is to find a fellow fanatic with the same or similar car, and ask to borrow their MAF for a short run.

Confirm, and then decide.

But do diagnostics on it anyway.
