Today's update: Took the car for a drive to get up to temp, came back and did a compression test to see the cylinder compression numbers before I pull the motor. All satisfactory.

Plugs look even burning and rather new.

Spent the afternoon removing the M54B25 engine. Gave the engine bay another once over with the karcher.

2.5lt out.

3.0lt to be cleaned and prepared.

Last pic for today.

Nothing stopping me from doing so later, this M54B30 I had lying around so may as well.

Like this thread a lot. What do you use to clean the underside and engine? I am rather worried i might get water in the electrical connectors and burn/short out the ecu. Do you use high pressure or wash first with solvent and paint brush with low pressure (hose pipe)?

Some people ponder what to pack for lunch each day.

Warren ponders what engine to swap out during lunch each day

Great stuff!! Keep the updates coming....

Engine degreaser with a paint brush and followed by karcher, repeat process until desired result. Karcher first, coat with degreaser and allow time to work, karcher again ect.

Does the replacement 3.0 also use the big older coils, or the newer pencil coils?

Is this a huge obstacle, or easy to overcome if they are not the same?
Replacement has bolt on coils (older).
Easy to overcome, just swap the coil harness which is a separate part to the main engine wiring harness.
