2002 318ti oil consumption

hi guys, this is my first bmw im owning and i have no clue when it comes to these cars so i need some help...i purchased this car with 164000km on the clock with fsh and a month before i bought it the car went in for a major service of about R6000, however yesterday morning after noticing the oil light illuminated in yellow i had the oil level checked and it was empty...my buddy, driving behind me also mentioned there was some white smoke emitting from the exhaust. any advice please guys?

White smoke could mean valve stem seals. Oil is being pushed passed the valves into the hot exhaust manifold and burns. Shouldn't be expensive to fix if it is indeed the seals.
