Are you replacing stock for stock, or do you have any plans for minor (or even major) mods?

Leaving it stock.
I was going to do the M60 inlet manifold mod but decided against it purely due to the fact that the M60 manifold performs at over 4000rpm and this car will not be spending much time there.
In addition the M60 will make the idle lumpy and I prefer a refined engine given the car it is fitted in.

I have a lumpy idling engine already in the e30 :D

It is worth remembering that without DSC/ASC engaged the M62 will spin its wheels and especially at the coast so it has grunt aplenty.

Guess a less restrictive intake isn't really necessary in a limo application, especially if it's going to be louder as well. As for other mods I was thinking more on the lines of maybe higher spec valve springs/seats, headbolts etc to make the engine even stronger (reliable) for the same given power and operating range. All within budget of course :)

awesome thread:bravo:

wish this could be done to my engine
Ofcourse it can be done.

If your V8 has more than 200k I highly recommend you do it before the chain rails break and you destroy it.

Just saw one which broke the chain rails and the motor really looks sad.

Moving along
Inlet manifold with injectors and fuel rail.

Front timming chain cover and water pump installed

Sump cleaned and ready for install.
I suspect that the baffle plate is made of magnesium as it is ectremely light and a dark colour although I could be wrong.

Broken toe or not I was determined that today the motor would go in.

It helps when you have 2 sons who are handy with a spanner.

Since the last post we closed the head and installed the wirring harness.

A new prop coupling was installed as the original was full of cracks.

Putting the motor in is a little more challenging than taking it out as the right hand side manifold needs to clear the steering box which makes things most interesting.

Well it is in now.....I still need to get an oil cooler for the auto box as well as a few plastic hangers and retainers from the agents and I can start closing up the front.

In the interim I shall connect the exhaust and close it up underneath.

I am hoping for warm weather in the coming week as it is a lot easier to work when one is not freezing ones back.
