Hi Guys,

This is my first service that I need to do on my 325i steptronic (E46) at 120000kms,

Besides, oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs, is there anything else that needs to be done and if so, where is the best place to get spares (Sandton/Woodmead area)?

What plugs is best for this car?
I service my Conquest myself but it is my first BMW service so any advise would be welcomed.

Thanks

Fuel filter, it never gets changed under motor-plan, theres a 99.22% chance that the filter from factory is still on :roflol:

Jokes aside, please change the fuel filter as well, flush the coolant and brake fluid, and check the power-steering fluid level

Air-con filters, is your air-con stuffy/smelly ?

Buy the filters from the agents, its well worth it...... Plugs and oil(fully synthetic) you can buy from a reputable spares shop......

How's the condition of the brake pads and disks ? Control arms (does the car feel wobbly on the freeway) ?

Would be a good idea to change the fan-belt as well........

Inspect the radiator hoses and coolant expansion tank for possible leaks.......

okay, will add the fuel filter in as well and check the belts, air con is good, no issues there.

I had quite a few hoses/bottle, etc changed when I bought the car (at BMW) - killer of R4500 bill for all that so really got sc*****ed at that.

Brakes is good, I got a guy to reset the service light, he has the obd tool

Plugs...Bosch or NGK?

S1ngh when you say aircon filter do you mean cabin filter.

Dealer wanted R700 for a cabin filter for my e46. I got a Kolbenschmidt (I think it is) for R150. I'd rather replace it twice in the life of the OEM filter...

Yep was referring to the cabin filters, a bit of clarity, I was advising the OP to buy the fuel, air and oil filter from the dealers....... I've also used the aftermarket cabin filters

Check idler and tensioner pulleys while you working on the car. Not too badly priced from the stealers.

M54 would take 6.5L

Went to G-Drive Auto and got all the good stuff.

Bosch Plugs: 75.12 each
Bosch Oil Filter: 129.72
Bosch Air Filter: 132.35
Bosch Pollen Filter: 198.84
Liqui Moly Engine Flush: 58.97
Bosch Fuel Filter: 764.84

BMW was more expensive on most of the stuff by very little but WAAAAYYYY off on the pollen and fuel filters (708.23 and 1216.70 respec).

got some work cut out for the weekend.

Good luck :=):

Service went well.
Fuel and Air filters were horribly filthy!!!...so much for FSH at agents
anyway, the one "difficult" thing to get to was 2 bolts on the fuel filter, just took it to a workshop and put it on a lift. It was much easier to work that way.
Also reset the "inspection" notification on the cluster.

Thanks to all
