The General's F13 M6 Coupe

Good morning all.

Been a while since my last update i know.

So, after the motor was removed, some investigation was done, and heads removed for checks. no cylinder damage of any kind at least and they looked good (No images unfortunately), however the Bank 2 head showed signs of Cyl7 and 8 valve stem seals leaking. checks were done on the valves themselves, and thankfully no damage to the guides, seats or valves themselves.

The injectors were also tested and sonic cleaned on the contraption, Cyl8 injector showed a bad spray pattern, not leaking, but not flowing near enough, i have a video of this, but too lazy to upload to youtube and load it here, but if there is interest, i can do that later, let me know.
After the cleaning, i was told the Injectors are now perfect, no leaking, and all flowing the same rate as needed.

The work was done to replace all Valve Stem Seals, and the motor was put back together, i also requested for all new Spark Plugs while they were in the general area, and judging by the look of the plugs previously when i removed them, it was time for fresh plugs.
The car has been put back together for the last week and a half. and been running with no issues. No smoking, and smooth running.

I requested some dyno time, to which they agreed, and i Provided my MHD log in details. (I created a separate gmail account and password, so that if i ever sold the car, i can sell the MHD account with it.)
first few tests on the dyno brought up a Misfire on Cyl5, to which the coil was moved to Cyl4, ran the car again, and subsequently the misfire moved to Cyl4, a new Coil was ordered. (I asked is it not prudent to replace all coils, and i was told not needed, and that there is no point wasting money where its not needed. Which i appreciated the honesty).
With the Coil replaced, some more runs were done to gather data, and the Budler team reviewed my logs last night and this morning. it showed Fueling to be in spec for stock software, so they not concerned on that front. the issue that was seen was that there was a large boost variation between banks, and after some investigation, its the wastegates that need adjusting. Now, this actually takes my mind back to when i had the car taken to Xcede some time ago for a health check, and there was a timing variation between banks, as well as boost variations, i have a feeling that the wastegates have been slightly out of sync for some time. So Budler and the team will loosen the turbos, and adjust the wastegates to close fully and correctly and then run another test again. This will be done during the course of the day and tomorrow, and ill get an update Thursday so that they can plan to arrange with the transporter to get the car delivered back to me.

Bit of a messy post apologies, doing it at work lol. But can do a clean up and upload the videos and some pics later if needed. but this is the just of it, and where i currently am.
Its been a long road so far, but, i commend the team for being so thorough, and keeping me updated. Id much rather have the sufficient time taken to do the work correctly, than rushing them and being impatient. Budler have been amazing, and i applaud them fully.

Will give more details when i have them.
Good news. Progress in the right direction. And thanx for tip with mhd. That makes it a bit easier to offload

Hi everyone, so the car got the greenlight, and all is good.
The adjustment of the wastegates has returned the boost to what it should be, and everything is in sync, car apparently feels more powerful now also, as well as smoother as it can build boost better.

The car was dropped off at the transport company yesterday, and it's been loaded on the truck for the trip back to Cape Town.

I got a message around midday that she has been loaded, and the truck will be leaving in the afternoon.

Very excited to have her back and get back to driving her. Will definately be more weekender orientated, but with the CT winter and rains coming, the car will be used more often, but the bike will still be used on nice/decent days. Unless it's raining.

I've been told I should have the car Monday afternoon/Evening depending on road traffic and stops etc.

Bud, it's Cape Town.... in winter.... just reside yourself to the fact that the bike will be in the garage for 3 months. There's no such thing as a "nice/decent day" in Cape Town over this period.

Hahaha yup so ive been made aware multiple times, however, like the stubborn, independent male that i am, I will use the bike to commute till i absolutely cannot any longer hahaha

Well, judging by our weather of late, you may be parking the M6 in the garage for winter after all...

Evening all.
So delivery day arrived, the truck arrived in CPT this afternoon. And due to offloading delays and other customers and traffic, I received my car around 7pm.

Went for a short drive, nothing crazy, and she feels good, and sounds good.

Arrived home and took the usual rearward video, and as you can see, smokeless.
Needless to say, I'm exceptionally happy.

I will keep an eye on things as I drive over the next few days. Budler has a 15w40 in the car again. They asked me to do an oil in the next 3000km to any oil I feel happy with, so I'll stick to my usual Motul 8100 XCess 5w40.

I have to give a HUGE shout out to the team at Budler, Boetie stuck to his word and to his business and delivered great service, and made sure the car was attended to.
It's very rare that a workshop will go this length, and saying that, I'm not an easy person to have as a customer. I'm a perfectionist, I do my own research, I question things and I like to be hands on. During the time I had the car while it was smoking, every interaction and phone call I had with Boetie, I never once got the impression that he was frustrated of havibg to listen to me complain. He heard me out, we spoke about solutions back and forth, and as you all know. He eventually confirmed that things are not right and took the car back.

I fully commend the man's work ethic, and also to Morne, his Workshop Manager, he kept me up to date, informed and took my requests.

I can happily say, that if anyone needs a workshop that has knowledge, and the professionalism, I'd honestly ask you to speak to Boetie and Morne. I will recommend that at any turn.

Now with that said, and the Budler team thanked, there is another person behind the scenes that I feel needs to be thanked also just as much.
@Peter@AEW that person is you...
Peter contacted me many times after reading some of the posts, with thoughts, explanations, ideas, concerns etc to give advice, and also just to check in to see how things are going.
And it's for that, that I can see why you're so highly regarded on this forum, with your knowledge and experience coming through. So Peter, thank you for being an ear on this journey and a sound board to bounce things off of. It's appreciated. As is your honesty on topics.

For the car, I managed to get a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres for the rear, I'll be upgrading from 295/30/20 Pirelli PZero to a meaty 305/30/20. I got them for a steal, so will have them fitted over the weekend, and will be getting a set of PS4S for the front next week also, just have to decide if I'm going to stick with the standard 265/35/20 or also go slightly wider and do the 275/35/20.
IMG-20250514-WA0002.jpgIMG-20250513-WA0022.jpg

The 265/295 Front/Rear setup is matched same as the M5. However, the 343M wheels are nit the same between the cars. The M5 has the following specs
Front:
9j wide
ET34 offset

Rear:
10j wide
ET34 offset

The M6 is different
Front:
9.5j wide
ET31 offset

Rear:
10.5j wide
ET19 offset.

So I think the wider tyres in a 275/305 setup suits the wider rims.

So I'll keep everyone updated with the progress of the car as things go by, and thanks to everyone that's taken this journey with me and keeping up to date on the story.
