Thanks! I have made use of Kosie Swanepoel Developments in the past and they have done good work.

Why would it shudder with a tune?i get more power and torque but it should not shudder

The ZF6 on the E90 LCI 320d is relatively safe to put 450nm through; hence my question. Stage 1 with downpipe/decat should make about 420-450nm. A lot of cases where stage 1/2 20d owners claim they feel a shudder/vibration when taking off or accelerating from low rpms due to high torque.

Just an update ladies & gents.

Did a major service on the 320d. She is on 178 000km now.

Took her to SMG Century City for an oil service, diesel fuel filter and a coolant flush- paid R3400. Not bad at all.

Bought the air filter (R290) and microfilter (R320) at Goldwagen and replaced it myself- very easy task btw! It gave me some time to also clean the engine bay thoroughly.

Lastly, put a bottle of Liqui Moly diesel injector cleaner in my 3/4 filled tank.

She is running so beautifully. No regrets.

P.S. Just look at how dirty the air filter and microfilter gets after just 20 000km.

Just an update gents.

Recently did a stage 1 file on the 20d, and man is this thing hardegat when the need arises. The dynograph indicated a 20kw and 100nm gain over stock figures.

Running a decat with the software. Still contemplating over a downpipe? Is it really necessary over the decat apart from the sound?

Initially had thoughts about a 30d, but not anymore. The 320d provides enough and reliably so.

So mine had the shudder and my gearbox broke...but we pushed the car over the 450wnm threshold and it gave way. thankfully...i got it done and a new gearbox was fitted. So it is very possible and mine was still not even 60000km when i broke it.

Some cars just respond better to even 'mild tunes' as in my case. When logging I requested to stay in safe perimeters as per 'stage 1', but gained 100nm and 20kw.

Gearbox giving it at 60 000km. That's odd. I sold my E82 120d with 450nm on around 212 000km almost 2 years ago. Owner did stage 2 with cooler and it pushes close to 500nm. Gearbox still keeps up.

Ja we pushed it very hard, the car just had the file on then DP and file and we pushed it right till the max....hence I say we BROKE it...was no fault at all of the car or its reliability. Even after the gearbox was replaced a milder map on it but it still performed so well. Once of the most solid cars i had bar breaking it lol

Did you have Xhp Stage 3 on the old box? Does increasing the torque limiters catalyse wear? And how often did you launch🫣?

Greetings fanatics

Just an update om my 320d E90 LCI.

My car just hit 200 000km last week. For the past month, I've notice a coolant leak that's gotten worse by the day.

I took the car to SMG Century City for a diagnosis; pressure test. It was discovered that the coolant flange pipe was leaking.

I also thought that it was a good time to change my crank pulley (vibration damper pulley) and drive belt (serpentine belt).

The total cost for diagnosis, crank pulley, drive belt, labour and consumables was R17.2K after a bit of negotiation. The price is a bit steep, but I didn't want to take chances in buying aftermarket parts as I've read on the forum of premature failure in some cases. Also, BMW gives 24 month warranty on aforesaid parts.

I collected the car today and drove it home (100km journey). Satisfied with everything, averaged 4.6l/100km driving 110km/h on my returning journey. I'm taking the car in next month again for a free post-test; ensuring everything is still running fine.

Will update again.
