F30n 320d - power loss

Hi Folks,

175k km on the clock and car goes flawlessly. 10k km oil service intervals at SMG since I got her at 75k km from a forum member.

It "feels" like there is a small loss of power when one floors it to take a gap, compared to the usual kickdown (this is an auto) and GO, that these 2lr diesels have always impressed with.

Are these motors prone to this?

I am thinking possibly CAT, DPF, EGR, Throttle flaps are gummed up or even Gearbox (planning a service at ZF before year end).

She is going in for a oil service shortly so will get SMG to diagnose, but an just curious if this is a common issue.

Any thoughts or experience?

Check your inlet manifold for leaks. On my son's F25 3l diesel the egr burnt two small holes into the inlet manifold causing the sponge type sound proofing on the engine to start smoking filling the cabin with smoke through the air vents. Also loss of power and engine management coming on iirc. We fixed the problem with a egr delete kit and having the egr programmed out. I am planning to do the same on my F30 320d as soon as i can. My car on 120k kms. My son's car on about 176k kms. This being a common problem according to overseas reports.

Thank you. I am always so nervous to mess with things like egr, cat etc etc. But think I need to investigate further.

I have no warning lights coming on and fuel consumption is constant.
