Still not happy with the burnt looking calipers , will paint them when I get a chance .

Once I have the bumper back from the panel shop I can start fitting it back and also incorporate Ram air brake cooling .

Im still contemplating steel braided lines but need to remove the lines and send them in to be made up which will take a few days and I’m running short on time . So will bleed the brakes when I have the new lines or before going to the track.

Will see how it goes .

I Managed to paint my brakes to make them look fresh again in time for the formula K event .

Also received the bumper back which was fitted and the car was ready to go.

This Was my first time going to formula k , it’s really nice , the place itself is fantastic, all the other racers were impressed by how everytime they come back there it’s always more developed than the previous time. It’s a great atmosphere.

Got there early and switched over to the semi slicks , registered , collected transponder, attended drivers briefing and then chilled out until my group was called . Went out for 4 sessions and 11 laps in total, being my first time there I started off real slow and then started to add speed until finally in session 4 I gave it a little too much beans and went off track into the grass/gravel. I jumped out to make sure there’s no damage or fluids leaking then got back in and drove half a lap slow to make sure it’s good, another half fast to see how it feels at speed. All still felt okay so I pitted and decided to call it a day, switched back to the road tires and drove home perfectly fine .

Had it up on the lift the next morning to see if there was any damage from the spin off but there wasn’t anything , just dust everywhere and some stones wedged in between the rim and tyre.

Overall Was a great day out, according to Speedhive app I placed 2nd in the daily class which is fantastic since I hadn’t driven there before, tons of fun with loads of good people all round especially Farhaad , Zaheer, Chris T , Carlos , Riaan , and many more experienced people around enjoying the day, I really had fun and I’m looking forward to the VKC event next month.

Here’s the pics from the day

Finished brake cooling this week.

My attempt at air scoops, will collect and Ram air from the front bumper directly onto the front brake discs.

I Will create some kind of blank off plate to be used on the street that can be easily removed at the track to allow extra cooling as needed and as it stands , it seems like this setup will work perfectly fine.

Did some short trips with the car to test and make sure it all clears before fitting the lower engine trays .

Do you have part numbers for these strut reinforcement plates?

Can they correct out-of-spec camber or are they purely for additional reinforcement?

I don’t have it on hand , Google e46 m3 strut tower reinforcement plates for the part numbers.

It cannot correct out of spec camber , purely reinforcement purposes.

Figured at 130k I’d replace some of the wear and tear items like the front and rear wheel bearings , front tie rods , rear control arms and ball joints, just to help stiffen things up a bit more . Went with OEM bearings and rear axle ball joints, meyle HD tie rods an rear control arms . We managed to complete the fronts so far and busy with the rears currently .

The rears are a lot more complicated and a pain in the ass . Will post up the pics soon as we already started assembling it and should complete this week.

Front reassembled .

Now the Rears were a real mission , had to remove the exhaust , heat shield, brakes and then the whole trailing arm, drive shaft, axel and hub all in one piece to strip it off the car. This literally took a few days , tons of force and lots of elbow grease but we managed to remove everything , clean it all. Then reinstall the new ball joints into the axel, press in the new wheel bearings , and fit the drive shafts with new locking nuts .

@johndoe

Just got my turner box. I too am having a custom Alpha n tune made, just having issues finding a dyno that will let me use their dyno and tune the car remotely.

Any chance you can share the details on where you dyno'd your car?

Appreciate it.
