Sent her in to Ross Duncan to have the powersteering system refreshed. The following was replaced:
1. Luk LF20 to Meyle 2 Bar round back aftermarket pump
2. Power steering resevoir bottle aftermarket
3. High pressure lines OEM (took forever to get)
4. Feed and return lines for P/S resevoir OEM
5. SWAG P/S Pulley
6. Continental Serpentine/ Fan belt (bad idea its whining, stick to OEM lol )

From taking ownership the powersteering system needed some attention. I was set on the Meyle 3 bar aftermarket steering pump upgrade and even bought the pump and had the mounting bracket readily available, but I was once again sabotaged by typical BMW parts sales incompetency. I remember spending a considerable amount of time ensuring the high pressure line was specifically for the LF30 flat back design P/S pump and even cross referenced the part number on the invoice to multiple websites.
Low and behold when it's time to fetch the pipes I arrived to a high pressure line for the LF20 round back pump...

I was not keen on waiting another month for the P/S to be done and the car was already on the lift so I quickly organised the round back pump and Ross had the job done in 4 hours, I was impressed!

After wringing its neck for a good few of hours I can say the job was done well and there's no red ATF fluid on my garage floor. I have no idea how the LF30 spec pump would have felt in terms of driving but the refresh with the 2 bar pump really did a number on the car. Steering feels very direct and sensitive.
I have also noticed that the steering wander has disappeared, not sure if its from the pump refresh or if the technicians at RD sorted the play out on the steering column, either way I am very happy with the outcome. There was clear play on the pulley shaft of the old pump, a typical failure symptom.

For my first time at Ross Duncan Auto Services I can say I am a happy BMW Fanatic, customer service was exceptional. Michael was very easy to communicate with and the other technicians working on my car were willing to entertain a conversation on the process of resfreshing the P/S system, something I appreciated. I really was against putting stickers on the exterior of the car but I'll make an exception this time.

Next up is the propshaft guibo, differential mount bushing and the rubber lining for the rear windows.

No real updates, just collecting parts for the second round of maintenance and replacement before year end.

Managed to convince my good mate to keep his 2012 E82 125i A/T. He had just installed a refurbished box and was starting to lose hope on it, however I was able to persuade him in keeping the N52B30 and just keeping up with the maintenance. I'm sure the head will start to give issues around this time but maybe he'll get lucky.

A good day all in all.

Put my VIN into the BMW system for any recalls and to my surprise it had not gone in for the airbag recall. Had that done done at BMW Fountains. Also got a nice report from the attending mechanic lol.

End of year updates(2/2) — Cosmetic TLC

All work done at Orca Autobody, the work speaks for itself. Debeer Refinish quality paint.

Parts worked on:
1. Roof spoiler resprayed
2. CSL bumper modified with a DTM splitter fabricated on.
3. Rear window beadings replaced with OEM part.
- I was once again provided with the incorrect replacement part from BMW. This could be due to the fact that BMW don’t produce the exact replacement part anymore and it’s just cheaper to manufacture a full rubber replacement beading.

Correction: it’s actually an AC Schnitzer front lip that was fabricated on and not a DTM. A buddy pointed it out.
Forgot to mention also added a 35% tint at Tuff Tint.

Hitting the limiter is quite a gratifying experience while simultaneously having very little regard for mechanical sympathy.
A E30 320i pulled up next to me and clocked in at 124dB .
I managed a luke warm 120dB and the winner was a 2.8 VR6 Mk1 at 140dB.

Are there still exhaust guys that keep glass-pack/ cherry-bomb boxes or mid sections? I would love more rasp!

"Right give it now! Watkine!"

The only question that comes to mind is, why?

Bluetooth Retrofit!
Saw a small Bluetooth “adapter” for sale on Bid or Buy and decided to take the plunge into cheap Chinese technology. To my surprise I was not left red faced or swearing like a sailor and the fitment was smooth. Now I can keep the “timeless” look of the BMW Professional Radio and have some modern day tech in there too. Splicing the original harness for power and ground was pretty intense ...

School Shoes!
BMW OEM Styling 47 17” 8J ET47 Square Set
Resprayed a dark silver metallic with a black primer.
Wrapped in Sava Intensa 225/45/ZR17 Rotational Tyres
-Cheapie tyres that were used to pass roadworthy. Intended to replace them but they’ve grown on me and performance is pretty solid, no complaints. Raised the coils for daily use too.

Yearly maintenance post:

Ross Duncan was used to carry out the labour, took about a day and a half for everything. I find RD to be quite pricey in terms of labour hours but I’ll keep on going back to him simply because of their customer care.
Parts were bought from GW and Imcomex.

Oil service:
Oil was changed after +/- 12 000KM.
- Mann Oil filter
- Topran Lower oil filter housing gasket
- BMW 5W30 “Twinpower Turbo” oil (not too sure about the spec, I wanted to go thicker but was advised against it.)
* RD noted that the oil filter was in bad shape even after 1 year but the oil was still golden fresh, a testament to the massive oil leak caused by the LOFHG. I was filling oil regularly...
* I’m still experiencing a small oil leak which has me puzzling. Next step would be to change from that rubbish PCV system to an oil catch can.
* Oil level sensor needs to be done, that small rubber gasket could be another cause for the oil leak.

Front brake service:
I decided against the 330i brake calipers for now as the set I saw available had a tear on both piston seals. The current brake setup feels great after the parts refresh:
- TRW pads
- Meyle discs
- Surebrake wear sensor
- BMW OEM brake fluid
* Rear brakes should be okay until the next service.

Gearbox service:
I decided to go for the clutch replacement without the flywheel replacement. I know it’s recommended that both should be replaced but the mech found the current flywheel to be in good working condition.
- Luk Repset 10 spline Clutch
- BMW OEM E60 short shift lever
- BMW OEM Gear lever mechanism bushings refresh
- Clutch Delay Valve delete
- Topran Gearbox mounts
* This made the biggest difference to my driving experience.

Sway bar bushings
- Front only, BMW OEM

Windscreen wipers
- Bosch

She feels amazing, no complaints with day-to-day driving other than the doors being ridiculously heavy, the coupe life
