Zwartkops Raceway - Bring & Braai - 18 March.

when i did a track day,just raced around for 20mins or so,no timing equipment,and there were three sessions,paid for me and my son to do when i had a ford

Excuse my ignorance, but I've never attended one of these Trax Days. How does the "racing" work, do you take your car and just bang around the track for 20 mins at a shot? Is there any time taken of your laps? What are the restrictions on your car. Do you get a "pit slot". etc. etc. etc.
I'm not really interested in the skidpan.

I'm asking because I attended a "track day" at Donnington park UK some years ago (in a e36 M). I was just wondering if this was the same.

Hey bud,

The format is, Bring a helmet, long pants, closed shoes, 1/2 - 3/4 tank fuel and 2 balls.

You dont get a pit lane, its on a first come first serve basis, if you are there early you will get a slot, if not, you will have to park behind some1, if this happens to you, make sure you park behind some1 who goes out in the same session as you so no asking to move cars etc.

There is no racing, no overtaking on corners, and no funny tricks.

three classes 20 mins each so effectively your car has 40mins to cool.

I doubt you will do a full 20mins because a street car just wont hold up, brakes etc will all go kaput.

If this is your first time, I suggest getting some1 who has more experience to go with you to show the ropes, gears lines etc etc.

I also suggest you go for drivers briefing and the trial run for first timers.

o yes! Timing will cost you an additional R100

I would have definitely went with you, but I will only be tehre after the forumla 1 race that ends at 10.30 am.

If any1 wants to get a feel for whats its like, you are welcome to join me as passenger when I do arrive.. it is lots of fun and you will hold on tight! will show you how Renault-Sport makes the hot hatches look silly - in stock format

I wasnt, the guy in that renault is not part of our forum, always chat with him though, a Uk guy..

That Z4M is known to be a reckless driver on track, from the picstures and the news the RS250 was behind him on the corner, z4m lost the back end on the corner, and the 250 had nowehre to go, tried to go around him and the z4m at the sametime over corrected and the car shot the otherway, into the side of the 250 or sumin like that..

i use to complete the 20 minute sessions easy with stock 17'' tyres,but did have upgraded brakes,no problem with overheating either,and i wasnt driving slowly either.

yep,only front,powerbrake pads and disks,only started braking at the 50m mark and then turning at the last minute to conect up perfectly with the apex and then bringing on the power.

maybe ill take a spin with you,will have to see

Came 1st in my First one NG Provinsial 3d on the 25 Feb but could not Win as I was not an affiliated Sanifaa Member. Now I am So wish me luck.


Hope you guys enjoy the skidpan and I will be at the next one.
