After trying plastidip on the front grills, which looked cool - but didn't last too long because of the beating they get out front, I opted to rather buy some pre-painted with ///M colour grills from eBay... under R1,000 and arrived in 2 weeks to the day from Taiwan...

If the old one's surrounds are still chrome, are you willing to sell them?

Hey guys,

So no laughing, but I got an itch to try something different on the wheels...

So ended up trying a dark bronze look...!!!

I used Plast-dip as a primer coat, followed by the Rustoleum "Bronze colour" and then a gloss top coat (which was plasti-dip again for now)...

All prepped...

I was tempted to leave it like this again... love the black look!

After the "Bronze" and clear top coat...

And re-installed...

Next weekend I'll do the left side... (and wash the car!) :tiptoe:

By using plastidip as a primer does that mean you can peel this off easily even with the Rustoleum top coat?

That's the idea!

The guy who did this on an overseas forum said to just make sure you do a proper thick plastidip coat to make that process easier.

I'll find out one day when it's time for a change!

By the way - I ended up using the Rustoleum Flexdip instead of Plastidip on the second wheel. It went on a whole lot nicer/easier - but time will tell which is the more harder wearing and easier to peel off!

Thanks, didn't even think of that. Going to do my wheels in the near future and this is a great option.

... and finally got to do the other side. This side I used the Rustoleum clear coat, and it makes a huge difference to the look and feel and perceived quality of the finish. I will have to go back to do this to the other side... at some point!

So far I am absolutely loving the colour and look...

...but might be back to black by the end of the year... if not on CSL reps...
