Z4 - one-touch roof open/close

This afternoon, I installed the gap-tech module which allows the roof on the Z4 roadster to be opened and closed with a single press of the roof button, instead of having to hold the button in all the time until the roof is up/down.

I can now get in the car, press the roof button briefly for about 1 sec, and drive away with both hands while the roof opens.

I can really recommend the gap-tech system.

The kit arrived about 3 weeks after I placed the order and paid via Paypal. It is a tiny electronic module with just 4 wires, installation took about 10min and no wires had to be cut. The installation requires the removal of the ashtray (1 phillips screw), unplug two connectors, connect the 4 wires to the wiring loom with the special connectors supplied in the kit, replace the ashtray and voila.

I'm not sure i understand the value of this, by the time i get into the car the roof is open using the remote.

No, this function cannot be coded in the car.

Opening or closing the roof with the remote key also requires holding the remote button in for however long it takes for the roof to complete its motion.

With this module, all it takes is a single tap of the button, the rest is hands-free.

This looks like a very cool modification - I can see it being very useful and adding convenience

From who did you order this module from.
Could you give us the link you used.
Did you have to pay additional taxes on it?

What was the final cost + shipping if I may ask?

Regards

I have one of these modules lying at home. Bought it but never installed it. Paid 1.7k( inc shipping) back in 2012 for the module with the remote control +one touch. Cant remember if i paid any customs when it landed in SA.
