Can't believe people have to stoop to trial and evidence lengths for sharing info.
These videos were taken with a crappy phone, a Honda trying desperately to keep up, so excuse the quality and crappy zoom.
The GTV in question is a 2002 model with cams, decat and software and is one of the stronger ones in Cape Town, known for running M3s and C55s ontop. I opened up 4 to 5 cars until 240 when he passed me on the top, Z3 has a crappy topend.

I have one taking out an Alfa GTV with cams and xzors on a 1,5km run, let me find it and no, unfortunately I dont drive around looking for fast cars with a camera. You guys are making a mountain of a molehill. Pity I cant access my own post!
Whats so hard to believe that I could improve the sprinting capabilities of an already quick car? Many road testers have taken bone stock Z3's to the traps in 14 flats and high 13s. The quickest time for a stock Z3 3.0i is 13.6!
An Audi R8 4.2 manages a 13 flat on any regular day. A Porsche Carrera the same. A 4 pipe M3 runs mid 13s. So whats the big deal about the post? I know what the car could do and thought I'd share some of my experience for the benefit of the Forum. Anyways, its all good. Will find some vids I have of the car and post once I get access to that section of the forum.
I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I would like to point something out to you. According to power to weight figures a 3.0 Z3 is not going to stick with a 2006 4.2 R8 for any amount of gears past second.
Consider that the 2006 4.2 R8 produces 414bhp with a curb weight of 1560kg. This gives it a power to weight ratio of 266bhp/tonne; source. The 3.0 Z3 on the other hand has a power to weight ratio of 171bhp/tonne, taken from your own link. Let's be generous and say you managed to improve your car's output by 50bhp, your new ratio is 206bhp/tonne.
Also, from my link, a 4.2 R8 traps 118mph in the 1/4 mile with a time of 12.5 seconds. That is a monumental difference.
I did this race 3 times. 2 rollons from 30kph the R8 has me stone cold. From a standstill, I had him all the way to 210kph. And the whole of Cape Town will bear witness to this feat as it took place at a prominent spot. Could it have been a fluke or a bad driver. Sure
i can't really see anything in those vids, but welldone.....
im sorry but i find it very hard to believe that a Z3(not even Mcoupe) ran a R8, call me a skeptic or whatever but i'm sorry
