Hi, forum newnie and I am soon moving to South Africa for work and am making a decision on my Z3 M Coupe. Love the car and am considering shipping out to SA with me. Can anyone advise if possible to ship personal car to SA? What the duties may be? Have done some research online but struggled to get good info. Would then eventually sell the car in SA rather than ship back so also appreciate any comments on the market for this car there? Thanks.

You could visit this site for the rules and regulations:
www.itac.org.za

And this site for someone who may be able to assist you with the process:
www.springbokimports.co.za

I hope that you come right.

Good luck:thumbs:

Awesome. Thank you! :ty:

From Springbokimports got their provider in the UK wisemovesltd and spoke to them. Process simple. However also found that would need to pay 50% duty on UK value of the car. Thats hefty. Question then is whats the car worth in SA as will cost almost same value of car in shipping and duties. Its a 2001 S54 M Coupe with 123k miles. Hmmmm.

That duty is quite a lot, especially for a car you've already paid off (I assume). Cars in SA are much more expensive than in UK though, much much more.
