Xcede vs JB4 on same car, same dyno

So taking a lot of JB's out of N54's these days & flash tuning. Customers are doing their own independent dyno's and coming to flash & going back to their local dyno's to verify they gained power.

This particular customer has JB4 & this is his gain over stock at KAR:

So JB4 gained him around 45 wheel kw & around 95NM.

He had some issues with the JB, got it resolved & added our custom 76mm downpipes. Still with JB & octane + downpipes he made:

263.5kw & 517NM on the wheels. Today we loaded our map on this car & this is what it made vs what it made last time on this same dyno with JB:

But to be fair we need to compare to the last dyno a ALB. So:

With JB: 263.5kw, 517NM
With Xcede: 296kw & 655NM

Both times with octane.

Here is the stock map Vbox:

13.3 @ 169.

Here is the JB4 Vbox:

Here is the Xcede map Vbox:

All Vbox's done with the same fuel in the tank and all with 2.1 60ft's.

jb4 on its own is a very conservative tune add the backend flash and then you can compare apples with apples
a flashed ecu with a flashed ecu

Well done Shermanator! You sir are a tuning God! I am selling jb4 and integrated meth to put one of your flashes on...terry burger is a dweeb compared to you..

Question is? Will it make more power at Autotrix than I currently make on an 18psi requested target? :tiptoe:

Yea it will Kish. A flash will always be better.

Guys open challenge. Anyone with back end flash and only dps contact me and we go to the dyno together with both cars.

Guys on this thread, organise a car

whoever takes on sherwins challenge with jb4 and dp's
i offer to load the appropriate flash before the dyno

I am sure the JB4 can hit those figures with some tweaking but the question is, would it be reliable? One or two dynos doesn't convince me of long term power + reliability.

Hence why the accompanying JB backend flash was suggested for comparison rather than just the piggyback targeting higher boost levels.

@Sherwin, please define "with octane" in each test for the sake of clarity. We know how these cars are governed by the quality of the fuel used and simply saying the equivalent of "not on pump fuel" does not indicate whether octane booster, ethanol and/or race fuel was used with each dyno and it what concentrations each time.

Why is it when guys can't achieve the numbers from their opposition, the reliability card gets pulled out?

My M with ACS was unreliable as shit.
I know lots of JB cars that broke.
I know of Xcede cars that broke.

Common denominator? Cars break, regardless of tuner.

Build a bridge and get over it.

Now will some JB guy accept Sherwins challenge and put this issue to bed.

Sounds like a bunch of whining teenage bitches on the rag here. . .

Kish, you may be reading the wrong intention of this thread.

It is not an attack on JB or BMS. Xcede offers various options to clients. JB and flash tunes are just 2 of these options.

Clients are advised according to their needs and requirements. The JB platform is great, no doubt about it. I have one in my car and am more than happy with the result, functionality and ease of use.

The purpose of this thread is to show the differences between 2 very popular options offered by Xcede. JB will still be offered to clients.

You have lots of technical knowledge of the JB unit. One of the best I've come across. You then know how it works, what it controls and also the limitations.

The flash works very differently from the JB, it has the ability to control more parameters.

I ask, please not turn this into the other 2 threads we had here. I know you are much better than that.

If there is a car in JHB that is willing to run the tests Sherwin suggested, let's do it. Not to prove one is better than the other, but to understand what is available out there.

The flash option will not be everybody's choice and many will still opt the JB route. As said earlier, both options are offered by Xcede and will continue to be.

Welcome back Shix... Good to know you were in there somewhere!

The new flash logic available to the likes of Sherwin have really opened up tbe limits on the n54, however to compare a jb piggy alone without corresponding back end is also not a level playing field. I am lucky enough to have a custom back end that has the same "logic" applied to tbe tables that Sherwin is using and to be honest my car in full weight doesn't fail to scare the bejesus out of me..

I am still keen to take on the challenge in Durban..

Kish, why does a JB need a back end flash? Doesn't this box attenuating the voltage on the MAP sensors do enough for a good "tune"?

BTW, a car with just downpipe doesn't need a back end flash. But load it & bring. This isn't a trick. I want to do this.
