WTF is up with stealership pricing on brake bulbs?

I payed over 300 bucks for my right front indicator bulb... from a stealership!

I think the indicator bulbs for headlights are the silver ones. The rear tailights are just clear bulbs that shine through a green plastic and then red, making the light orange.

Was at VW today dropping off a friend. They wanted R180 for the bulb for his Amarok. I told my friend in from of the salesmen, that me must just go to Midas and get one for R60. The salesmen then tries to tell me "and then it blows in 3 months?" I told him no car manufacturer makes their own light bulbs, they make cars not light bulbs. They outsource for bulbs. And the 3 main manufacturers are Osram, philips and hella, the guy shut up right then and there. And I said cheers to my friend and left VW.

Just replaced the bulb in my cars 3rd brake light as well...R5 for cheapy, asked for better quality one R20 for Osram one....splurged on the Osram one...:rollsmile:

Haha 2 might have broken the bank. I've got the cheapies :rollsmile: . But I'm going to order the silver visions if anyone in cape town wants PM me and I'll add a set on. The last quote I got was R150 for 2.
