Worst Nightmare

Water from the Exhaust??? A puddle? how the fonk is that possible? that exhaust gets too hot to hold water in it....unless you drove in reverse through a river?

You didn't perhaps knock your actual engine oil sump, it could have knocked the thing back and caused a break in the gasket where the oil was able to come out?

did you look at the damage yourself? I dont trust that its some how just mounts... next thing you sit with problems later and the mech starts cooking up other stories to cover his ass... you need to find out what liquid was spilled and where it came from...

I gave the panel beaters a call today to find out how far they are & if there was any other damage. They reckon gearbox & engine oil was fine  they told me its probably power steering oil I saw that was leaking out :wtf: from the gearbox ? Definitely Wednesday I'm getting my car back then I'll take it to my specialist for a 2nd opinion.

Hmmm if your power steering fluid leaked out that could possibly mean that you smashed the power steering rack.....that wont be ideal. :nonono:

About a few hours ago I was on my way home traveling on the N17. As I approached a dual lane which was narrowed to 1 lane, there was a rubber base (those things which holds danger plates) lying in the middle of the road :bangdesk: there was no way to avoid it other then going over it which I did and the next thing there was a loud BANG !!! and felt the car lift off for a split second :argh:

I pulled over immediately to check..... the sump cover plate is bent and hanging low and there was oil leaking from the gearbox  I was about 15km away from home and didnt want to stay out on the open road and decided to drive back.

On take off the car had no power, sounded like a tractor and had a bad vibration. I got a feeling the gearbox is foooooked :bangdesk: I'll probably have to take a day off work to get that plate bent in taken to the nearest garage.

Rant Over

well if there was road works on the road u can claim from the contractors working on that road
:sorry:

Claim from the construction company involved.

I tried that before...no prevail...

There was a big metal plate attached to one of the road barriers, that came lose on the one end, and every time you drive past it, it "Whips" into the road...it hit the side of my previous car. I ended up paying all the bills, the company just gave a statement why it is not there fault and never replied to any of my calls, email etc, again.

Picked her up yesterday, she drove smoothly as she always does  Definitely the gearbox mountings was worn/damaged, because even that slight vibration is gone on take off. Right now my only concern is the selectors, theres alot of freeplay on 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 5th but this is a problem I had since I bought the car. Probably next week I'll be taking her to my Mech for a checkup.

Panel Beaters left the old sump protector plate in the boot, will take a pic of it this weekend.

+1

The construction company is Basil Reed, it's 2 years now since my claim for a windscreen, both headlights, grill & bonnet on my Jetta is pending. Everytime I call they transfer me to another person, eventually I gave up and forked the bill myself because traffic cops are less forgiving.
