Thanks guys, been busy at work during the day, only evening time I get to loaf on the internet....
So I had a look at my car today and realized it wont fit on a flat bed because its too low, I cant take it off my shallow driveway without knocking that sump protector plate back in unless I tie it up with cable ties just to clear the ground & looks like theres no oil in the gearbox because theres a puddle in the center of the garage :argh:
So far waiting for my insurance to get back to me which I got a feeling is gona be a pain in the testicle.... with regards to claiming from the construction company, I'm still haven't heard from them since January 2010 for damages to my windscreen, bonnet, both headlights and grill on my Jetta :thumbdo:

As for who to take it to, I also don't trust anyone :nonono: been phoning around & decided to call RMI and asked them for reputable garages in this town. So far Wald Engineering is the closest to me & a friend had work done on his car there recently..... he said they did an "OK" job on his car but they expensive..... well I gave them a call & they'll come have a look at my car on Wednesday at home.

take the bumpers off or get some of those rubber things that you can use to prop up springs...
you dont really want them destroying your car to get it on a truck...

Sorry to hear, a similar thing happened to me last year it was a conveyor belt laid over the road for a digger. As the car in front of me went over it, it lifted and bang ,snapped my Peugeots bumper.
This is what I did and my insurance sorted the rest.
Go back to the site where it happened and get the company details from the site foreman, there has to be one on site(always). Get a case nr from SAPS give all the info to your insurance.
Your insurance should cover it and recoup the cost from the construction company.
Hope you get it sorted.

By engineering shop I assume you are looking at having the gearbox casing welded? Why not find out what a new gearbox, even a six speed will cost and the implications of doing that...
If you need a hand with anything give me a shout. If you need the car moved, I know Eddie that rents trailers and he has a decent car trailer, I'll provide the Navara to tow. Just shout.

Thanks for all the advice guys & keep it coming, its really helping me out here now when I need it. Insurance called me today, they going to process my claim & tomorrow a towtruck will come by to tow my car to the nearest panelbeater of my choice.
I'll be doing that today on my way home, take pictures and get details of Company, Site foreman, manager the works..... thanks Henry
Thanks for the offer for towing BMW M :thumbs: much appreciated but insurance will take care of that, what am I paying them for anway.....
Car will be going to panel beater & from there will see what damage was done

now I know who to call for my VW :mmm:Towtruck was here this morning, so far no hassels getting my car on the loadbed but took longer than anticipated because of the height. I'll load pics tomorrow of everything.....
Something interesting I spotted though, I left the car on the driveway for a couple of hours and not a single oil drop was found :thinking:

in 2008 my wife and i were relocating from DBN to JHB, with 2 cars filled with household contents, bedding, desktop fans, curtains, frames and tons of my wife's clothes.
In the slow lane (on the 2 lane highway), i notice a steel chevron board across the road. I was driving at 120, i dropped speed and moved to the right lane to avoid it. Thinking it would slice my tyre or i would pick it up off the road and slam it into the winshield of my wife's car, that was behind me.
When i pulled the car back into the left lane, the steering locked and i went olff the highway, the car rolled three times and came to a stop about 100 metres off the highway and over a razor fence, car stopped on the drivers side.
Nobody sustained any injuries, but the car, which was just 3 months old was written off.
This was one of those freak incidents. Insurance investigated and ruled that there was some kind of defect on the steering which locked it while the car was in drive, which was what caused the roll.
Fact of it all remains that the whole thing was started by the steel chevron board in the lane on a national highway.

Be careful out there guys, between the taxi drivers, the speedsters, the blue light brigade, fake cops, ongoing roadworks, idiot drivers and deplorable road conditions, not to mention the rain we are having and the fact that if you spit on a traffic light, you can shut it down as none of them are water-proof, your life is at risk every time you drive.
Exercise caution out there and be safe.

Sorry Bud, Bethal roads are k@k, good luck with the repairs. I wish the was a road strictly for bimmer, well taken care cause bimmers

sorry to hear man. i had two incidents last year as well. hit a truck tyre with the bmw on the R21. Insurance paid about R35k.
next one was in the tazz. had to avoid a chevron in the middle of the road on a bend at brakfontein interchange. almost got taken out in a serious accident but just had minor damage. has not been repaired yet. :thumbdo:
claiming from the NRA was a waste of my time even after filling in their paperwork. i just used my own insurance. excess is a bitch!
