hi guys, i noticed yesterday while drivin(bmw e46) my windscreen washers did'nt spray water, checked today but the windscreen washer bottle still full cz it was topped up a few weeks ago during its service, any advice??
Could be a few things from the actual washer pump to blocked hoses. First thing to try is to pop the hood and check if you can hear the motor running when you trigger the spray.
Check if the water bottle and pump are still there :tease:
Check if the pump is running whilst engaging the windscreen washer.
try the clean out as moranor suggests. if that doesnt fix it, at least you have a very clean washer bottle.
also check the pipes for any obvious clogs. sometimes the spray nozzles get dirt stuck in them. pull out the pipe and check if the water still sprays.
finally. replace the pump. Luckily this is a quick and cheap 2-5minute fix. A replacement pump from goldwagen is usually under R100. the replacement is easy as both the water bottle and pump is accessible.
i had the same problem 3 weeks back on my E46. it turned out to be a broken pump. the hose sheared off the pump at the connection. AND dirt in the tank.
i cleaned the tank and did a quick fix on the pump using a drinking straw!
no problem since... but will have to replace the pump soon
If the pump still pumps but nothing comes out (unlikely), it could be blocked sprayers.
I stuck pins in my corolla ones to unclog them, but for a BMW, I'd rather soak them in something like brake cleaner, just be sure it's safe on plastic first!
hey, thank you 4all the advice, checked my water_bottle still there and full of fluid no leaks...lol, the motor is dead no sounds or noise when try trying to spray. so definitely need to replace the motor.
