The mp3 player is really nice. does away with the need for a cd case. just carry one cd and youre sorted.

I have one of these. Its cool to have.

My advice, go check the scrapyards. chances are, they dont know that the cd players are mp3 players. you might get lucky and find one.

my player looks exactly the same as the other cd players. IT says BMW Business Cd, however the lettering is faded slightly.

I did a Wiki on the e46. and it says this for the changes to the 2005 e46.

2005
Lumbar seat support added to the premium package on the 325.
CD shuttle became MP3 compatible.

There isnt anything else about the front loader saying that it came out mp3 compatible as standard. I assume that it was an optional extra.

Ive just phoned AutoBahn in Kempton Park who quoted R8208.00 incl vat for this player (Most BMW stealerships have a similar pricing structure, so i dont expect the price to be greatly different at any other BMW Stealer).

They also say that it looks exactly the same as the normal BMW Business Cd player, with no indications that it can play mp3 and came as an optional from 2004 onwards.

PS. This is what my player looks like

So the cd shuttle is MP3?

Please say yes...

Dude, Im not going to speculate. best thing to do is put an MP3 cd in. and if it plays, then its your luck.

I think that its probably also an optional extra.

Cheapest way out, FM Modulator but you gonna get crappy mono sound.......

Best option is to make normal cd's. Theres nothing wrong with them.

i thought that my player was a normal player for almost 2 weeks before my brother showed me that it could play mp3's. I used to listen to normal cds. Sure there is a slight bother factor of ejecting and replacing cds, but this problem isnt actually a problem.

my advice, if you dont have the standard mp3 player, and have the money, then buy it at R8208, or else buy a cd case, a 10 pack of blanks and make the cds you want, with the tracks you want. Its what i did until the mp3 revelation.

Thats what i cannot understand with BMW Audio, Cassettes are a thing of the PAST!!!! Why still include it?????
Ive checked a couple of forums and used google, there's alot of aftermarket audio products for e46....but most of them requires shipping, not too sure if there's anything available in SA besides using the Trim Facia and spoiling the originality of your oem audio setup.
