I had a very strange experience 3 odd years ago when i bought the car...probably the only 1 in my area at the time. The car was shiny and spanking new and you know how it goes...no one must come to close...drive far away from anything near your way...anyway stopped at Cape Gate mall outside near the woolies entrance (i think it was just completed)...and 3 guys came out of the centre...as i am about to get out of my shiny 1...
As they walked to their car (red 3 series bmw (the box size) they stared and stared at the 1 (not at me at all) and said almost in one voice..."what kak car bmw made...". My ego and pride was shattered...i thought how do i defend myself against that kind of comment...so i walked towards them and they were still staring and commenting and i joined them and also stared at the 1...and said...." this angle of the 1 does'nt look too bad...but the angle of your 3 is almost rotten away by rust (pointing to the skirting of their car which was badly rusted)"...one of the guys immediately said its not my car its his pointing at his friend who was obviously pissed off with him...Ya those were the days...a typical capetonian welcome for the 1.
