Wheels? Need advice!

Hey guys!

I want to do a wheel change on my car. I dislike the wheelgap on my E90 so I want to go for a 17" or possibly a 18", with the 18 my concern is our roads?

I bought my BMW about a week ago with all run flats. The 2 front tyres are brand new (400km) and the 2 rear ones have about 80% tread left, give or take. Mags are also in a very good condition.

I want to sell my current mags and tyres, and get a nice 17" set with non run flats + a space saver.

What would you guys recommend? Sell the mags and tyres now and get the mags I want, or do I wait until I need to do a tire change then buy new tires and mags and sell the old ones?

The E90 original rims in 18" are pretty strong, it's the 19" wheels (read: style 225) coupled with RFT tyres that sometimes crack/buckle. That being said, it depends if you want to stick OEM or go with aftermarket rims.. The choices are endless

I am a huge fan of style 162's and style 193's in OEM guise on the E90

If you are really want to change the rims, may as well try and sell them now and use the tyre life as a bargaining chip but in all honesty, those rims are not in high demand... No harm in marking them for sale and seeing the interest.

My choice is made!

I want those 193s!

PS: the 162 pic is not showing

Are they 17"?

Also, what would I expect to get from the tires, money wise? :/ Since they second hand.

Edited.. Both are 18" wheels

I'm more a fan of the ellipsoids (162's) on the exclusive models, but that's just me

To be perfectly realistic, you can expect something around R3.5k for a fairly 'quick' sale.. I actually think if you don't mind waiting, use the existing tyres and get some worth out of them. That's what I would do...

What size tire would I be able to fit on those 193s?

I want the highest possible profile.

Im not sure what my current tires and mags are worth? They are all sitting on Michelin's.

You might find it not so easy to sell the 16's. People all usually want to upgrade, to bigger rims, like all of us did, and you plan on doing.

Then I am also of the opinion, that exclusive pack rims is better suited to the non-msport pack, and keep msport style rims, for the msports. But thats just me

These are the specified sizes:

Fronts 225/40/18
Rears 255/35/18

Also, I think these rims would be brilliant as they are uncommon and will set your car apart from most of the other E90's

There's a set for sale on the forum..

Thank you all for the advice!

I think I will pick up that set of 216 BBS.

How much do you guys think a set of non run flats will cost on these guys? Also around 5k?

Go for it now, because by the time you finish those Tyres, you tired of the car and trading in.

I've driven from the dealership with brand new vehicles straight to tyre shop fitted what I want and keep the originals, then when it's time to sell I fit the originals back on with no scratches on wheels and Tyres with 100km on them. Plus I've enjoyed my vehicle the way I want it!!
