Wheel nut lock tool/socket.

Morning guys.
I did not get the tool, for removing the wheel lock nuts with the car.
I went to BMW yesterday and it turns out they need registration papers and licenses and about everything short of my mental records to order this.
Does any one have a less painful solution?

PS: its for a F20

Short of getting a wheel shop to weld on a head and remove it, then buying another set of lock nuts, the registration papers are what you would need. This is a much more difficult solution than taking the documents and ordering a key (unless you need this immediately). It shouldn't be hard to get that documentation together. Can't you ask for the key from the previous owner/dealer or for them to fit the bill? Seems like a reasonable request TBH.

The dealer is more then willing to pay for the replacement, its just a mission getting everyone's ducks in a row and getting it done.

I called BMW assist and they came out to me and removed it for me as they have all the tools with them. I then just got normal nuts for my car without any fancy locknut. I know its not the safest option but it works for me

The spares dude I spoke to yesterday at bmw wanted me to book the car in for them to remove it after I bought a new complete set from them.

When we bought my son's 2005 X3 earlier this year the previous owner said that he had to get the special bolt from BMW as the car did not have one when he bought it about 7 years ago. When i went through the car i found the original with the tools on the side of the load bay under a small lift up cover. The previous owner did not even know about the tools! So we have two of those now. My advice is, maybe it is with the tools.

Thanks, but I've checked all the obvious places, I think.:=):

I had a similar issue. Just went to 3 dealers in order to get the correct Daisey pattern, seems like the master sets at some of the dealers were missing one or two - obviously the one I needed. Club motors in fountains pta eventually had the correct pattern for me and they removed the nuts no charge and no paper work. Just bought a set of 4 normal nuts in the interim.

I had the same problem. I was at a track day, and couldnt change my wheels there because of this stupid lock nuts! Went to tyre mart in Sandhurst. They have a tool that takes off lock nuts. They can still be used after. They just look a bit scuffed. I also put normal bolts in, and never will have lock nuts on any of my cars in the future!

Better be safe then sorry and stranded and get a new lock nut set or just buy the key, BMW or otherwise , Its a good deterrent for the smaller petty thief's who steal car wheels .

I agree, but really a thief that steals my wheels needs bigger ambitions. It causes less headache for me.
AMGs are surviving fine without this inconvenience item!
