What things have broken on your car within the last 3 to 6 months?

doesnt it just piss you off when you are driving leka down the road and you realise something has hitith the fan.

Heres my last so far

window washer motor
battery
radiator neck tube on the side
gearbox
probshaft
powersteering pipe that was leaking oil like crazy
the bonnet that i had to spray because the paint was chipping off
bonnett shocks

and yesterday to top it all off,my alarms siren

All of the above have been fixed with the exeption of my siren. The way i see it the siren can wait because lets say the alarm goes off at 3 in the morning, you go and look whats wrong and some mugger shoots you.And if you are at a shopping complex and it goes off the skanky car watch buggers dont do anything about it anyways!

Blew head gasket.
Somehow a lifter broke - replaced whole set
Thermostat
a few lights in dash went out
wheel bearings - already replaced the rear
Engine and gearbox mountings
TPS(Throttle Positioning Sensor)
I think the ICV (Idle Control Valve) might also be done
Right headlamp - plastic bracket broke of age
Paint of roof started to flake

That's it... for now...

Dec, i think this still falls into the 6month catogery though the heartache still feels like yesterday...

My E46 sportspack,

Hit a truck tyre on the N3 near villiers:

Bumper cracked
carbon spoiler dissapeared
fender liners
splashtray
spot lights
headlights cracked
radiator cracked
pipes burst
termostat housing broken
bent cradle
aircon pump and belts damaged...

worse part? No insurance :-(

anywayz i cudn't have felt any worse than the guy that was behind me, he had a german spec m3, supercharged, fully customised!
he never had any insurance either, but he got it bad, his supercharger disappeared, half his exaust system gone, slash trays fenders grills headlights broken suspension (H&R) the man was in tears :-(

YOH! Joseph that sucks!

yup, tell me about it! the worse part is the perpetrator was no where to be seen, he probably saw his tyre blow out, but naaa leave it there, let the other people suffer damage to their cars, i don't care it's not my problem...
"that's the mentality"

Almost hit a truck tyre once (at night). Swerved (luckily no oncoming traffic as it was uphill), turned around and picked up the tyre. Sold it for R2k!

my e36 328i, 2 weekends ago, coming down oukaapse weg towards cape town, in the blitzing rain. spun on the hairpin, hit the cliff side barrier, hit the mountain, and broke my left suspension in a ditch.

I still feel there must have been sand/oil on the road, as I have been driving that car for 4 years, and like to think I know its limits.

too bad I had to replace it with an e46 m3 :mmm:

E46, replaced front lower control arm bushings, they were shot. Replaced all 3 diff bushings, they had cracks in the rubber. Upgraded to a 6speed box. Upgraded to Mtech 2 bumpers.

E36, nothing, car runs solid everytime. :)

E36...nothing? You sure are lucky Gizmo. May I call SirSparky to testify again on his 'not-so-good' luck with his E36?

Nothing actually! Maybe because when I bought my car it was a HOK! the previous owner was an ass who neglected this car like you couldnt imagine. I think he just about managed to drive it in his glory, just about had enough money to put in petrol, but couldnt maintain the basics! When I bought it, I spent tons of money just getting her back to how she should have been!

Now she drives like a dream and makes her new owner very happy!

I replaced:
Front bumper - It didnt have one, he drove it off!
The discs
Suspension
Tyres all round
Engine mountings
Clutch

Did the
Engine
Brakes
Fixed the bootlid - it couldnt close
took out alot of deep scratches in the paintwork

These are some items that come to mind.
