lol i think it will be fine its probably only half off if you press it... all depends on how you drive... if your traction control light come on often when you drive you should probably not try with it off...

Hi all,

What's the function of the DTC?
What happens when you press it?

Holding it for a couple of seconds gives the electronic nanny a chill pill. The car will allow some wheel spin, and lets the tail out. The electronics also cause the diff to act like a limited slip diff. If you hold it in longer, it turns the nanny off completely, and the diff will be totally open, which isnt very fun.

Just beware, if you get in an accedent while having the ESP turned off, and the insurer finds out, they won't pay out.

BTW, on your (our) car, the DSC on tar road isn't that hectic. Its actually reasonably controlable. Dirt roads it is fun, but then you could land in trouble if you don't know what you are doing....
In more powerful cars (M3) you have to have big balls to turn it off on dirt/wet....

The DTC button is the definition of fun if you know how to control it.

Not so much fun if you don't know and the bill of the one button costing you R 50 000 in repair fees.

BUT THE DTC BUTTON IS PROBABLY THE ONLY THING IN A BEEM THAT IS NOT CLASSY. And i dont know about you guys but i love it.

I am glad I only have single stage asc & not dtc or dsc..

Makes it just a 1 touch of the button to turn it off :0 for example when I need to make a quick pull off & the asc takes power away

I forgot to answer the main question of what happens when you press the button..

answer:

It performs some chemical reaction, that has the ability to turn a semi solid black rubbery compound into some marks on the road as well as smoke as a by product.. then it will create a chemical reaction in your head, and this grin on your face..

but it could also put a look of "OH SH!T" on your face as well

What if someone touches it by mistake
a little kids fiddling in your car and her mom isn't saying anything???
How do I know if its OFF or how do I turn it OFF?

every time the car turns off the system defaults to on (safe)

When it gets pushed once then DTC shows on OBC for a bit & then the yellow traction control light shows..

When its off completely (hold button down for a while) then 2 lights show on dash..

Just play with it to see the different lights so you can then know what to look for

@Naruto: I know this is a little off topic, but how do you find the 320d vs your polo sportline? How is the torque delivery and turbo lag comparing the two?

One amazing trick you can do with the 320d: Turn the ESP half off. Put your foot flat on the accelerator. When the revs get to 4000RPM, drop the clutch. The pullaway in the first 40km/h is faster than most things in the class... :fencelook:
