@Naruto: I know this is a little off topic, but how do you find the 320d vs your polo sportline? How is the torque delivery and turbo lag comparing the two?

One amazing trick you can do with the 320d: Turn the ESP half off. Put your foot flat on the accelerator. When the revs get to 4000RPM, drop the clutch. The pullaway in the first 40km/h is faster than most things in the class... :fencelook:
I have been Beemeroid!!!
I love the beemer didn't think it would be this fun.
Erm...I have an Auto box :thumbdo:, but I'm loving it.

I enjoyed my sportline no doubt, maybe I needed software to unleash some of the hidden power from it.

Tomorrow is a big day!
Taking Itachi down to the Coast for some Fresh air!
Hope he enjoys it

DTC - DYNAMIC TRACTION CONTROL

The boring explination if I may.

Push to turn off traction control.
This now allows wheel spin up to a wheel speed of 70 km's/Hour (Wheel Speed, not vehicle speed.)
Used for sandy surfaces, gravel roads or when needing to clime a steep gradient in the wet or damp surface conditions.

If you pull of briskly on a gravel road without switching off DTC, the car senses wheel spin and cuts power to the engine. So it is bennificial if this is the case to swith off traction control.

If you hold the DTC switch in for a few more seconds, you take back ±70% of vehicle control. This also de-activates the ABS system.
Now the fun starts...:)

No button inside the car can disable the ABS.
Only the stability programs

Dont know the reasoning behind it, but you can go test it.
The ABS will still pulsate on the brakepedal when you slam on the brakes

they use the abs light because its a hidden function thats why it does not have its own light...

No, I see the DTC light illuminate when the DTC button is pressed once.
When pressed and held in for a few extra seconds, the ABS warning light comes on too.

Please explain if you have specific knowledge of the system only.
IE BMW Technician trained on the system.

Or, I guess I must just give it a go...:)
Hit dem brakes HARD:rollsmile:

Touch that button and it will kill you, :roflol:

However, novice or experienced driver, you should take care when switching off a vehicles traction and stability control systems. Especially for all the wrong reasons on a public road.

there is no light for full off thats why they used the abs+dtc light to show that dtc is completely off...

why would they make it turn abs off? i know the e46 system works like that and i dont see why they would change it for the later more health and safety models...

Warning if you driving a x35i or 330d this is highly not recomended!
i once lost my car, it spun and i was left on the oncomming lane.... luckily it was late and roads where dead!

I drive a 318i & when asc is off it can become a bit dangerous as well..

none of our cars ABS goes off when traction control is off

With mine as far as I know, on start up, if you press the DTC button it enables DTS which from what I understand means better traction control in snow or very wet weather. Push and hold the DTC button for a few seconds and it turns off the traction and stability control safety nets! So very much a case of do this at your own risk, especially in the wet, although that's when it can be loads of fun, if you know what you're doing!

It amazes me just how much the traction control intervenes with my car - after a brisk but still sensible drive the rear brakes are quite warm, and I am generally fairly gentle with the brakes, so this is from controlling rear wheel slippage! :fencelook:

Then why ABS warning light comes on after few seconds of holding down DTC?

Last time I read the reason the abs light comes on is to show that the brake force controller is deactivated... So when you take a corner and brake it will not distribute the force to where the car needs it most to maintain stability...

In gopher holding the button down only lights up the Cluster. :) 4 pot. :(
But is is because there is no dedicated light to indicate it is completely off. Ergo the Handbrake light comes on BUT IN Yellow and stays on if it is off completely.

It does work on the Skidpan. :)

This guy played with his button......
