What disks and pads to get?

Yep, basically what I said, contact areas between the pads and the callipers - so the pics above explains this better.

I have never used copper slip when I replaced my pads and I have never had a problem with squealing brakes. The pads from the dealers already have a plate glued to it to reduce squealing.

Hey guys. Need to replace discs and pads on my E46 330i. Goldwagon quoted me around R1900 for Febi disks and pads all round with sensors. Midas around R1500 for ATE. Was told to stay away from ATE though as they are noisy and generate a lot of brake dust, experienced this with my jetta. Still need to get a quote from the agents. What is the OEM brand that the agents use? Any other recommendations? Thinking of going with the bilsteins unless there's a reason not to...

Agents just quoted R6600 excl. vat and labour!!!

I’ve installed ATE on my 330i and I'm very disappointed, they are really noisy and your car squeaks like an old steam train, in my opinion totally rubbish! I'll never buy them ever again, rather get the real stuff.

Okay, but is this disks, pads, or both? Did you properly clean everything before fitting the new parts? Did you use any anti-squeal paste as mentioned above in this thread?

What helps is cleaning the disks before installing them. They usually come with some sort of anti corrosion coating on them, which if not cleaned can lead to glazing of the pads.

+1!

You have to clean this coating off thoroughly before fitting the disks!

Since you're in claremont, have you tried goldwagon and masterparts? they're like 30ms from each other? Masterparts looks to have an absolutely massive warehouse. I would try them. I think its the main masterparts branch. I dont know if they stock these. But I got my K&N filters for both my 330 and 320 from them. Goodluck
