Maybe a steel rod/bar 'wedged' between two of the waterpump pulley's bolts to lock it up & loosen nut?? Only an idea for another solution, be carefull for slipping though! :fencelook:

Get a piece of flat bar and drill the holes yourself...cheaper option and you got a tool for life..

Have you tried loosening the viscous clutch by just locking the engine? (car in gear and both drive wheels on the ground) normally the bolt is not that tight, or at least it doesn't need to be.

Hmm,

Didn't think of that. Will try tonight and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Sank,

I have tried that before without sucsess (that E36)

However, I made one as suggested. Bent it on first use but it did the job, so I need to make another out of thicker steel.

I just used a waterpump spanner, and a rubber mallet.

and when you put it back, you just hand tighten

Have done it twice before with a 50% success rate, so worth a try as it costs nothing.

I have a tool I made when I did my Vanos seals. Much like the one in the picture, just Homemade.

You are welcome to use it, Daytime I`m in Isando and in PTA when I go home.
