Water leak

Good day

Today ,found water on the driver's side footwell after car was in heavy rain.

Would anyone know where to check for the most common entry point to try and seal it? Was not a lot, but a fair amount to be noticeable.

Not sure if maybe a rubber seal or something could be frayed, but I could not see any leaking spots. or holes etc.

If it is an E60:

The brake fluid reservoir sits inside a sort-of-bucket-looking container, right under the driver side microfilter.
At the bottom of this container, right underneath the brake fluid container is supposed to be the entrance of a drain pipe. Bet you 1 dorrrah that its probably blocked.
You will notice that large cable(s) enter through the firewall of the car and that is the point of entry for the water that collects in this bucket and does not drain, which is why its the driver side only.

Cannot tell you if its blocked at the top of the pipe or the bottom which exits near the right wheel somewhere.

I had the same thing happen, same time, on my Volvo V60 CC. My car was parked on an incline, facing up, and there was a puddle of water on the front passenger floor mat (luckily, I have rubber mats). It seems that rain came in through the plastic cowl between the windscreen and bonnet, and seeped in through the ventilation piping, under the dashboard and onto the passenger floor. This was due to the car being parked on an incline, gravity doing its thing, and the design of the ventilation system.

thanks MR_Y. Mine was on flat ground, but could well be a similar issue. I had a look under the steering area, and could not seem to see anywhere the water would come through. When I get some extra time (and hopefully before another rainfall) I will try and check from the bonnet side. I assume somewhere some drain pipe is not working well or clogged etc. Just hope I can find it.
