water in expansion tank

Dear all I have had the problem of oil and water mixing I changed the oil cooler however this stopped the problem temporarily. There is oil once again in the tank almost like caramel consistency

What car is it? Which oil cooler did you change?

My car had the same problem , Turned out to be the transmission oil cooler , But I was also told that there is another engine oil cooler that could also leak. It looks like a smaller boxy type version of the transmission oil cooler and is next to the Oil filter.
I have a 318i N42 engine Automatic.

Did you check if there is oil and water mixing in the engine? I believe you can check it through the oil filler cap or dipstick . It makes the engine oil look like milkshake ..sort of .

Did you flush the cooling system thoroughly after changing the oil heat exchanger? You'll be amazed at how long it takes to get all the oil out.
