Wagner EVO 1 Intercooler

Hi Guys,

Ordered a Wagner EVO 1 intercooler from Mlperformance in the UK. A buddy is coming down late December and transport. This is for my E92 335i and interested if any of you have had an experience with this particular upgrade?

you mean rebranded Alibaba intercoolers that all big Name companies use.
Yes we all have experience with them lol.

seriously though, they all the same, when i had my E92 335i, i imported an AMS Intercooler from Alibaba/AliExpress, for 1/4 of the price of AMS.
All you doing is paying for the name on the product, nothing more.

As long as it has the fittings and hoses, then fit it and forget it, will be fine.

I am with General Massacre here, the intercooler should be plug n play. But while it is being fitted, it is a good opportunity to check your linked pipes and make sure they in good health and replace or upgrade them when fitting. Giving them a good clean and replace any clamps and seals as well for good measure when fitting the new part. the car will feel a bit different at first, and then it will adapt OR clear adaptations immediately and run it. If you got any supporting mods like Stage 2 software and DP then it will benefit a lot but mostly you will feel the car heat soak less now when hooning it around then you know it is working as it should.

I have used Chinese intercoolers before and they did the job no problem..... As good as a job as Wagner? Nope...

Not sure how Wagner standards are now but the last one i saw was just made proper.... You can see the standard of quality compared to the Chinese ones. Material used, The build quality, the fin design and most probably a better flowing core as well. Buy an OEM Wagner and a Chinese copy and put them side by side. They are not the same, the weight is not the same as well.

I know there are lots of companys that are using Chinese rebranded parts in SA and Globally but im going to put my head on the block here and totally disagree with Wagner doing such.

Just my opinion.

Rennzport ran tests back in 2016 irc on intercoolers

Wagner evo 2
China town
Evolution racewerks

One car All 3 coolers one day

ER had the best performance
Then wagner evo 2
Then Chinatown

Dont think i have the logs any longer, but we did real world tests...no thumb sucking...

They not the same.

That being said, the chinese ones were NOT junk, they still better then stock.

Hi guys,

I received the Wagner EVO 1 and had it installed at SMG Tygervalley yesterday. Walter the workshop manager drove the car and was impressed by the consistent boost in each gear! On the way back home I noticed a step at 2500 revs when it boosted harder. Could be the delay between the intercooler filling as it is bigger than OEM. Wait for the management system to recalibrate but very happy!

Hi Firi thanks!

I recalled that I had changed the boost pipe sometime ago when I did the downpipes. was confused though between my Ford Focus ST where I definitely did the change. Checked yesterday morning and voila the charge pipe was changed to the aluminum pipe!
Thanks though!
