Vibration on bmw

Hi all,

I'm.New to the site, needed some advice on my car, bmw 125i convertible, I'm getting a shimmy in my steering wheel starts at 60 and then back at 120km onwards. Bmw has changed upper and lower control arms, engine mounts. Tyres are new. Bmw say the rims are bent. Took the wheels for refurb, balance and alignment. I still have a vibration. Could it be the wheels?

I think a second check on those rims - not all places fix those rims well.
Or next option borrow some rims and see if you get the same issues.

Good luck

Hi there bud. Thanks for the reply, Wheels went to wheel collision. They are good apparently?

not everyone is perfect - they also can make mistakes - testing with some other wheels will eliminate the wheels being off in the first place then you can work back off that

Take your wheels and re-balance them at another place/shop. See if that improves your problem.

I had old tyres put onto my rims as I waited for my new rear tyres, they didnt have stock and was waiting for it from another province. I used the tyres as they were free and needed to drive, rear tyres were shot.

Long story short the used ones were great and I could do any speed without any problem. When my new set arrived I went to put it on and almost immediately I could tell something was wrong, at 60-80km/h I had a small vibration and 100km/h+ my passenger seat looked like it wanted to eject. Same make of tyres, difference only the age of the tyres. After going back it was noted that the tech who put it on did an incorrect depth reading and caused the vibration. Take it to another tyre place and rebalance it, cheapest way and maybe by chance you have the same problem. Some tech are not the smartest people. My car thou has narrow and wides, 8J front 8.5J rears

Thanks for the reply, I hear you my man, so I had the vibration before I put the new tyres on. When i noticed the vibration i then had it checked they told me 2 rims were bent. Since then all rims have been refurbed.
