Vanos question

Hi guys.

okay a question that is bugging me, my car is a late 2008 model, December 2008 to be exact and has the LCi tail piece and some silver bits from the LCi thrown into it as well, my buddy also has a 320i but the 2009 LCI. my question is, wiht my understanding the Vanos is to BMW what the VTec is to Honda?

would my vehicle have Vanos and if it does, would it have it written somewhere in the engine bay and if it doesnt is it a bad thing?

in your opinions, is the Vanos better and more powerful etc? i am trying to learn more about BMW motors and from what i heard previously, the Vanos was used on the E36 M3 etc.

Also i heard about a software upgrade for the 3 Series, it basically has a few setting different, i dont think it is for power though etc

lol im pretty sure all bmws have vanos after about 1992...

bmw did not write it on the engine because it would look tacky...

If I am not mistaken all the 6-cyl engines came out with double VANOS from at least 1999 and the 4- cyl from 2001.

And if this was a Honda forum I would not be driving a 330i I would be driving a 330i DOHC VANOS :)
