Was thinking any one here done a de-cat on e46 330i auto. Have heard that there might be some droning at crusing speed.

The guy at Noise Boys will de-cat plus fit two resonators or as he calls them boosters for R960 (mild steel) and R1500 (stainless Steel)

Comments welcome

Ask Kartik on the forum.
Henry, the guy at Noyzboys is out to make money from you.
All you need is to remove the 2 cats situated in the exhaust, not in the branch.
After they cut them out they put in 2 pieces of freeflow pipe, thats all, and trust me, you wont have droning or vibrations.
Like I said, as soon as you readdy, call me, and I can meet you at the place I took Kartik too, and trust me, you wont be taken for a ride.

If you take out the cats and fit straight pipes it will be very raspy compared to the deep stock sound.

So how would you go about doing it ? Without straight pipes ? My car does sound quite raspy now that I think of it .

Resonators....should remove the raspyness

Though it is best to go for a full 3 box exhaust system - this together with the 6 pot give a really nice deep sound.

As Sank said, get two small resonators fitted in the space where the cats were, this gives a very nice deep rumble.

Guess I made a small error in my car's exhaust now . :thumbdo: It doesn't have any side effects besides the noise does it ?

Mmm thanks Coisman, but I'm still in two minds if I should or not. I'll make a plan with Karthik to have a listen how his car sounds.
But as per our phone call @R300-R500 I might aswell take a chance if I don't like it I can always fit resonators later.

@Snakekur like I said to you today maybe I should save up and do it properly, take out all four, but I know I'll save up and find something else to spend it on.:bangdesk:

:argh:Fcuk it all this because my wiff said she wants it a bit louder when she starts the car and when she pulls away. like I said if I like I'll do.

Hope it gains some low end pull.

There shouldn't be any. Though straight pipes in certain sections of BMW exhaust have a tendency to reduce performance, but this is probably more applicable to M's

@henry: I am very in favour of the saving up to do everything at one, but like you said you save up and then you tend to spend the money on something else, this is kinda why I still haven't done this

Henry , you can hear what my car sounds like when you available . And I think it pulls better , to be honest you won't notice , I just like the sound at the end of 1st and 2nd gear . It screams like an M3 with the tin noise .

Man this sucks I hate being so indecisive.:flyfun:

Had my 323i e46 done way back in 2007. Paid the 1k2 to have the cat's removed and installed two of these (cut through example):

The car felt more responsive after the change, but you get used to it - very quick
