Tuned F30 320!

Sorry, I meant torque, obviously a 320i with 350KW would be wikkid but not likely. Just strange to see that after 3,500 rpm your torque drops off like that.

I just just tuned my brand new F30 320 M sport.
Huge gains on this car. It's now stronger than a F30 - 328.
I'm glad I didn't pay extra for 328

:rollsmile::rollsmile::bravo:

Congrats on the new found power.

It's related to the physical limitations of the turbo!

If a hole is only a certain diameter -in this case the compressor side of the turbo- the flow is limited through that hole hence your boost is limited and thus your power!

Congrats!
Good power!

Dont let MiniMike find out. He will let BMW know on your behalf.

Who needs MP anyway!

Stats from ACS website:

320i

328i

36kw between tuned 320i and tuned 328i

The Scnitzer tune is basically working on a add on boost principle. In both cases the same amount of boost added hence different readings. This is within the threshold of fuel adjustment of the stock DME. If more boost was added to the 320 to match 328 power the DME would not be able to adapt resulting in engine check lights.

Josh, I am not sure you can get that much more power out of a 328i. The 320i and 328i has exactly the same motor, turbo, intake and injectors. So tuned, they should make the same power with the same software map, excluding any hardware mods. :dunno:

I sincerely hope that BMW do not pick up your new software, because they will suspend your M/P if they as much as suspect that it has been tuned.

I understand they share alot of the same internals, but surely the 328i has a better base for tuning than a 320i. There must be some internal differences that allow for the additional power in the 328i.

Just like a 1M has a better base than a 135i :dunno:

So the the 328i has more potential in terms of just a boost increase?

The total potential is the same on both. In terms of a fixed boost increase which a plug and play device does you starting of with a higher power figure on the 328 hence a higher output. With a flash you can get them both to similar power.

There is a difference between the 320i and 328i, the pistons and exhaust in the 328i are different. Intercooler, intake etc have the exact same part number.

If you see AC Schnitzer website they can take 328i up to 217kw and 320i only up to 180kw.

So 328i is tunable.

Nice one mate

:fencelook: I just don't understand why people are so concerned about the motorplan morethan you really:dunno:

The 328 has different pistons - probably different design to allow more boost before detonation (either that or different material/forged vs cast etc).

TBH, the ticket price difference between the two is less than the cost of losing your motorplan.

I am sure he thought really hard about this before running with the idea, nothing for us to stress too much about

Especially considering that turbo's can fail! :fencelook:
