Just do a research and see what's the maximum torque that those gearboxes can handle. I see the F30 328i produces 180kw @5000rpm and 350NM. Now I'm not sure if these cars share the same Gearbox, if not, have a look at this.

Josh, I am not sure you can get that much more power out of a 328i. The 320i and 328i has exactly the same motor, turbo, intake and injectors. So tuned, they should make the same power with the same software map, excluding any hardware mods. :dunno:

I sincerely hope that BMW do not pick up your new software, because they will suspend your M/P if they as much as suspect that it has been tuned.

I understand they share alot of the same internals, but surely the 328i has a better base for tuning than a 320i. There must be some internal differences that allow for the additional power in the 328i.

Just like a 1M has a better base than a 135i :dunno:

I own a f30 320i....and would love to have her tuned, but i would rather wait 5 years, even still, if something breaks :argh:!!! We looking at big bucks for repairs!

But im sure the gains in power are sooooo dam worth it:inlove:

Hehe, I made that post with all seriousness.
Seems like the mindset of everyone has changed these days, previously guys didn't give much thought to the consequences of tuning, now guys are erring on the side of caution.

Btw, why should BMW have to fit the bill for parts failing from being exposed above their design limit, due to tuning (yes there is some over design, but this is factored in for the stock car)

Btw, this cost is eventually paid by the consumers, factored into new and used car prices, service parts etc....

Another thing, the claimed weight of the 320i is lower than that of the 328i, which is a good thing for acceleration, but it also indicates that there are differences. Like possibly brakes, driveshafts etc. The gearboxes are pretty much the same, well at least as far as torque ratings etc goes, even though the part numbers differ slightly.

The weights that are quoted are for the Vanilla spec cars. Differences are mostly wheel weight, exhaust system and possible standard options such as electric seats and folding rear seats on the 328.
As a matter of interest the cars use the same pistons. The piston previously used on the 328 is now discontinued.

The dyno graph is based on wheel power :
162.5 Kw & 351 Torque

Engine power is 200 kw & 400 torq :thumbs:
top end limiter is also removed.
So it is already stronger and has been tested by me.

Not all tuners max out cars capabilities creating a car that produces its power in all environments and conditions avoiding one hit wonders on the dyno and then on a hot day its fallen on its back.
As for your other devils advocate responses the checksum has been balanced to the same figure as the stock software. The fasta data triggers have been raised so nothing gets triggered as the DME thinks that its within normal operating spec. Homework has been done and equipment was not bought on special at incredible connection.:thumbs:

And it is done by someone who is known to many as the "GURU" of BMW tuning.

OB is a legend when it comes to BMW tuning and definitely knows what he is doing.
