As previously mentioned, its Trim.
MP is clear on "interior trim", things like scratches on your steering, and scuffs on the aluminum trim will not be covered by trim.
In your particular case, these guys are claiming that a RUBBER part, which without being replaced will cause the roof to leak, needs replacing.
I think they trying a quick one. This is like saying the rubber door seals, that prevent water from getting inside the cabin, is trim and they won’t pay for it.
Make a huge fuss dude. BMW often try crap like this, and in most cases get away with it.
On another note, my wife had been complaining of squeaking on her E87 LCI. I drove the car, to find the door seals needed lubing, and squeaked with any type of body flex. All was needed was a good Gumme Pflege or BMW equivalent. I even typed all this out, with the BMW part number for Gummi and had her print it and take it to them.
Gumme Pflege or the equivalent would cost them R100 for a bottle. Instead they insisted that all the door rubber seals had to be replaced, at a cost far greater than that of the lubricant. When the SA insisted that Gummi wouldn’t fix it and they had to replace it, I thought to myself, why should I go out of my way to save BMW money, screw them.
So they replaced them, and guess what, 4 weeks later, after a lot of rain and hot weather, the rubber started squeaking again.
Funny how they won’t replace your rubber aligner at R2200, but would spend R5k replacing every rubber seal on another car, when it could have just cost them R100.
This was just pointed out to show that there is great disparity between what one dealership will be prepared to pay for, compared to another dealership.
There are stories on this forum, where owners have been told to fork out R10k plus for some repairs, only to take the car to another dealership and be told, they will replace it under MP.
If JSN is not playing the game, screw them. Collect your car and take it to another dealership, eventually, you will find one willing to replace it at no cost.
This isn’t the way it should be, but this is the way of the world we live in.
Good luck, and keep us posted on how this pans out, we want to know where to take our beloved cars and where to avoid like herpes.
