Irrelevant to your post asking for help. Not cool

:bangdesk:

I apologise. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

You should really shop around for insurance. I pay just under 600 for my 330i, and that was from when I was 22.

Look at different insurance companies as they categories cars in different ways. When I had my E36 M3, some insurance companies stated it as a high performance car, while others "downgraded" it to normal as newer models were just as fast - however, the premiums for those that categorized it as high performance was almost 3 times of the other companies.

You're paying too much for insurance and the vehicle in the first post is too expensive. My opinion.

see here. a 6 cylinder too. It's a much better drive than the 4-pot.
And he says he's looking at trade price for it! You'll save an easy R60k. It is 2 years older, but yeah.

Another thing to remember when doing plenty mileage(in your case minimum 30k + a year) is that you're going to be taking a big knock on depreciation.
Coupled with the premium you're willing to pay for a low mileage vehicle, you may lose more than the average when the time to trade up comes around and you may not be able to switch up to the vehicle you'd like to.

Don't rush your decision.

A bit pricey for a 2008 320i if you ask me. When I was shopping around last year I came across 1 or 2 2007/08 sport pack 325i's with the same mileage for that price. Oh and you're also paying too much for insurance. Find a decent broker. I was quoted around R600-700 for an E90 325i/330i and I was 24 back then and insuring for the first time. For that money you can probably find a 330i/d.

The insurance will always be relatively high as you've only had your license for under 3 years. I had the same issue so I was a 2nd party driver on my car which made my insurance on a 320i, when I was 19, R600. You can try search around for insurance but once you're 21 out will be a lot easier.

Ok guys, so I just came across these on the Autotrader
2007 BMW 323i
80,000km
R149,000

Don't really know if it's a better option. Pics aren't very descriptive either.
Currently resides at Audi Northcliff. Ad says it has an extended motorplan, but for how long?

2007 BMW 325i
80000km
R165,000
Currently resides at SA Motor Corporation.
Just a full service history.

I can't say I am a fan of cars with more than 75000km on the clock but the 323i does have the extended m/plan which I would be able to extend on a year to year basis if I understood correctly.

Max 7 years, so it'll be expiring soon & will cost quite a bit to extend it if you're 'buying extra' KM's too

up to year 7 only. Expect to pay ~R15-20 for mileage and time.
Come to think of it, with the new motorplan extension pricing, lower mileage BMWs are now worth more than before.

I just wonder why the e90's are still so expensive. I have seen expensive ones sitting at dealers for months with high prices and high mileage. I always thought that you price your stock competitively when you are selling in an oversaturared market which the 3 series market indeed is.

Worst and most unreliable engine ever to come out of the BMW stable is the N43 engine which this model has :thumbdo:
Endless hassles with ignition coils, high pressure fuel pumps, fuel injectors, Nox sensors, carbon build up at very low mileage :thumbdo::thumbdo:

Not to mention noisy and howling differentials after 50,000 k's or so.

The list is endless unfortunately :cry:

Best is to rather go private. You'll find much better deals but you also have to be more patient and you have to keep your guard up at all times. Dealers normally mark their cars up way above retail.

I really am conflicted between the 320i and 320d but most dealers I have gone too won't let me test drive their cars because of my age.

I would possibly consider the 1 Series as well.

I live in Randburg and study at the University of Pretoria so my daily commute is 160km. I currently do it with my dad's Corsa Utility 1.4 Sport and I'm fed up with the crappy power output as well as the 4000rpm rev drone at 120 km p/h. And the Gautrein prices are also going up again in June.

But I really wish I could testdrive both to compare.
[/quote]

Go to Sandton auto, I dealt with Zack...He had no issue's with me test driving the vehicle, Granted i'm a few years older then you but he never asked so I'd assume they cool with test drives...further more these dealers all have insurance on their cars(Stock)

Go 320d if you are covering 160kms daily, makes sense with the fuel consumption and fuel spend. You also would not be disappointed with performance, as you are saying the Corsa just doesnt cut it.

But the car you have found looks great, if you can get the dealer to include a service plan extension with the asking price, I'd say its a good deal with a plan extension. From what I remember to extend for time is cheaper than extending for kms.

The stealer is allowing me to renew the motorplan for one year at an extra price of R10,000 :yuck:

Price then sits on R180,000

One year extension = R10,000 :thumbdo:

For R180,000 the only low mielage diesels I can find or afford are the Polo 1.2 or 1.6 TDI's

R10k for a 320i is a bit rough. My 135 was R10k for an extra year, and I would imagine the 135i is more expensive to maintain and with turbos that can break more of a risk for the warranty as well.
