Ok here is my take on this
Firstly, if a x35 beats you off the line and you begin to catch up this means that the x35 is stock. Because if it had been a modded one you will not catch it up, easy as that.
So you basically have to improve your driver skills first before modding the car or getting a M-DCT or learning to use a M-DCT's launch control if you have one.
With regards to mods if you at the reef then the problem becomes harder to solve. I'm at the coast and the M3 already has the advantage stock for stock against a x35, so modding becomes easier.
I can't talk for all the tuners out there as i've only got one mod my car
raise:. But with the e9x M3 the most power gained is from the exhaust system, i've got the entire system changed. Meaning no cats, then with that you will want to do the software as they they just compliment each other. As for the induction on the stock car its just a magnificent piece of equipment and changing it only gains you about 5kw at the most, but costs you big time, which isn't worth the money, rather do for a filter change and some intake scoops. As for the motorplan, that's a whole new ball game. It is up to you which way you will want to go about doing it. For me, i'm lucky enough as i have my own workshop and can get the exhaust changed back to stock within an hour if needed.
Finally, i don't want to compare my car's current performance to any x35 as this has be debated to kingdom come. But to give you a idea, it wastes no time in making a stock M3 look stupid and gives a V10 M5 a big fright :roflol:.
P.S Try taking out your M for a blast on a race track, trust me you'll have a new respect for the car. Even at the reef. Best of luck
