Theoretical remap question

Hi all,

I have an original ECU that was uninstalled from my F30 320d and was replaced by the PPK ECU. I'd like to get more out of the car, not satisfied with what the PPK is giving me.

I was wondering whether I can get a remap done and install the original one, and have all the fun with tuning etc. and when I need to have my car serviced, take it out and replace it with the PPK one, so that the MP isn't affected (or so that the agents don't find out about the remap). As far as I understand, when remapping, the ECU has to be taken out for the software to be installed?

Anyone done this before? How difficult would it be to take out one and install the other? Will there be any trace of the ECU's being changed etc.?

Thanks.

Hi bro, please contact Keithan@RKmotion, he is a member here and they are running a special on that. Please give feedback on how it went, I'm planning to do the same thing too

Suppose all that can be done. Interested in how easily it can be done, and what you would do if you had a break down far from your tuner.

Always carry the PPk ECU in the car with you, when you have break down, disconnect battery and swop the two

Just not sure how easy is it to do that, will have to get some practice first

If the keyfob needs to be coded too, we have a spare that can be done with the original ECU for the remap. Basically then we'd be running option a) a remap or b) the PPK. I've contacted RK motion Keithan says it can be done!

I would if i could! But for 5k its not a bad option to tune and play around. Another possibility is to trade in my car and get a 330d thats 2~3 years older and has maybe 70~80k on the clock. Pondering.....

You will trade in for 330d and then want to remap that one too :YesNo:
