Arbee, thank you for the opportunity you presented to us to comment like this thread. Yes there are fights here but that is how we all learn and understand.

I agree with the welcome thing and the fact that as a new comer to the events that you sort of lost when arriving there and not sure who to meet or who is who. It would be great if there is something we can do regarding this but like some of the fanatics (yes all of us is) said maybe put a place or sign for the newcomers to learn the old events people. I for one would like to learn more people, that i might know on the forum but have no idea who they are in real life or how they look. Long story short, i think an introduction booth or something will be way welcome at the events.

I will be at the entrance, welcoming and introducing all at the events i attend.

This right here is probably the reason you were met with the greetings you were at that event

Thanks for coming in late, cherry picking, and then re-starting a conflict. I do so love antagonism.

No problem, one of the many services I offer:thumbs:

As you said the admin should take feedback and blah blah blah and not get upset, I advise you to do the same with my statement above.

My dear boy, nothing said by anyone using hashtags outside social media upsets me. I find it completely indicative of the maturity level of the poster.

I have taken as much time away from business as possible today to attend to this thread.

We are literally giving each and every member on this forum an opportunity to get away and engulf themselves in something they love and enjoy; CARS. And in this case, BMW's.

Take the time. So what if you don't drink coffee, or you lactose intolerant, attend a meetup, mention a car and I swear anyone within a 5m radius will talk to you.

To the CT guys; we have some of the best scenery IN THE WORLD. Let's chuck the best scenery in the world in front of it, ie, a BMW or 50. Modded or OEM AF. Who cares. Then let's talk about them.

The readiness to say "This isn't for me, That's not for me" is probably why you haven't spoken to anyone because "They aren't for me" is probably crossing your mind unknowingly.

One thing binds us all here, cars.
Mention a wheel size, let's debate. Next thing you know, you will have a crowd around you.

As a CPT events organizer, I am slacking. This I know and realize. A lot of my efforts are towards my business BUT I will do all I can in future to support and make sure I chat to some of you odd-ball characters at our next event.

Let's do a cheap social.
Find some scenery nearby, on a Sunday Morning, and we rain some BMW on it.
Kapish?

I have been to a few BMWfanatics events. I suppose the first few minutes are daunting but then its gets much easier and in no time you feel at home.
All you need to do IMO is make that initial contact with at least one fellow fanatic and you are on your way as it spirals on. That fanatic will know another and so on and on and on, before you know it you will feel comfortable. This is what i found works for me.

Keep up the good work team. Enjoyed all the events I have been to thus far.
Most importantly, made some friends.

You lot are becoming a reason why people won't attend an event. It's really uncalled for. Show some maturity or take this elsewhere.

If guys want to do track days I see no reason why we cannot piggy back onto existing ones till numbers grow... no need for R 80k investment to make it happen just have a meet at the track day

guys driving can drive and chat... guys that dont want to drive can chat/braai/check out cars/whatever

really no reason why this cant happen and be an all inclusive event

We have been attending (and winning) at other car club events.

I remember last year speaking to the VWClub guys to allow our members a lower rate to join in on their Kyalami track day. Secured spots and only 1 or 2 people actually participated.

Was thinking this as well. Hiring an entire track seems overkill to me. Especially as not all attending will take their vehicles on the track.

This *1000000.

Plus, It would be nice if the guys taking their cars on the track would accept ride-alongs.

I would gladly volunteer to do all the braaing, for a lap or 2 around a circuit in the passenger seat of an M-car.

Yes, me and my wife....

@Moranor - thats exactly what i've been doing. Part of a bunch of forums waiting for them to arrange track days :roflol::roflol::roflol: Then insert the obligatory "you guys dont mind if I join your **insert brand here** event in a BMW?"

Key here is not to get discouraged I have no doubt this will become successful if given enough chance

I didn't check the forum in one day and i missed 8 pages.....

Firstly, I will start off by saying that the Staff involved in the events are doing a sterling job. In MY opinion, the issues that can be found with the events is more about the attendees and not the planning. There's is only so much the forum can do about the way people handle themselves both on and off the forum.

The staff are as far as possible trying to accommodate as many of the fanatics as possible. I am guilty of not attending meets in recent times, mainly due to my own personal commitments, if i was not attending lectures, i was trying to spend time with my family.

Personally, again alot of the meets are not family orientated, but i dont expect them to be. I also do not expect my family to spend the better part of a weekend to look at 'another' BMW. Even those that are family oriented, wont work for my family( 15month little girl who needs more attention now than ever and a 5 year old who loves cars, but gets bored ever so quickly) and i have tried to bring them along.

But this has not deterred me from being a part of this community. My first meet was a breakfast run and what started off as awkward sentences with strangers became compelling conversation with friends( some are not even as active on the forum, but we still communicate offline).

One of the things I would like to bring up again, as it has been mentioned before is name tags ( for those who want to use them). I sometimes find that when meeting someone new, the hardest thing is to find something in common to talk about. Yes we are all part of the forum and read all the same threads, but being able to put a name to a face having a common discussion point makes things easy.

It would be easier if I read the thread about Fuzz new wheels and then when at the meet and seeing his tag i would be able to introduce myself and immediately talk about it. What I have experienced is when i introduce myself to new faces, I only get their actual name and not their forum name and immediately I feel as if i have nothing in common (but that was when I didn't know anyone, now I will ask their forum name).

Example: I targeted Abmi0000 on my first meet because I knew the car off the forum, I had just purchased an E60 and his car was sweet. Overhearing Jerry and Mdu chatting about Carbon fibre bits got me chatting and introducing myself there. Dewald and I had a common goal that day, food.... but ended up being an depth discussion on both our roads to becoming fanatics.

Lastly, I think we need to forget the previous issues and vendettas that exist and rather focus on the common goal of being a fanatic. Everybody is different and it would be impossible to keep everybody happy. What you will find is that the cliques mentioned earlier, as rightly said , are only created due to the nature of the people in the clique. It either all crap talk, car talk, women all of the above.., maybe even none. The difference would be to find the clique that works with the person you are and you feel comfortable. Technically we also form cliques on the forum, we just might not know when the very same person who is so vocal on the forum i standing quietly in the background of a meet.

Since the request of the mods was to give a suggestion to improve the events, i will but from my personal view, but it might apply to a few.
-Due to family commitments, i prefer evening, night events
-Any time of the month for me ok, since i get paid mid month
-I actually prefer park offs where it revolves around cars and car talk, with access to food. This allows me to move around easily and chat to more people.

I would like to know if the mods have considered a paid membership as i believe there are pros and cons to this. I would like to believe paid membership would help in the forum spending more at events, reducing some cost at bigger costly events and subsidised merchandise(to members). I also think that it would help to change negative perceptions of some members, it will not increase the number of attendees to meets and not change the fact there are cliques.

You are welcome to join me and a couple of fanatics at Midvaal on the 24th, I don't have a M car, but with the roof down, it will feel fast

Thanks Sash... We understand not having 20 000 odd members attend events, we dont expect everyone to be there. The concern is the drop in numbers. You have highlighted many reasons and suggestions for us to use.

WRT Membership platform, it is in the pipeline, however, we need to have calling cards first, to entice the users from becoming members. Events is a start, Merch will follow suit. Then we have something to offer users..
