And then also...I ordered an M Perf style black gloss rear spoiler from Firi and Danny helped me install it with the tape below in case anyone needs to do it still. I think it looks sweet. Also I had the standard rear diffuser sprayed gloss black - it was done for free at BMW so I took the opportunity. I'm still considering the M Perf style one but it looks sweet for now as it matches the spoiler nicely.

Ignore the haters and slap on some M-Stripes.

(Coming from someone who had stripes on a 320d F30 LCI and now drives a Volvo sports(station?)wagon)

Hi all, need some advice please. Had to adjust the springs for the boot after putting the spoiler on...their weight of the spoiler just just tipped the weight in such a way that most of the time the boot lid would not open. I moved it in to the back in the same slot as it was before. It now opens, but a little too fast and worried it causes damage by stopping hard at the top. I see there is another slot just above and if I place it in there it will kind of fall in between the below slot's two positions. Pic below for reference - see the angle of the spring to gauge the direction. Do you guys think the spring can be hooked on the upper slot?

Then while fiddling I saw this green cable coming to the side cover and if you remove the cover for the battery it has a green pin with a petrol pump on it, can anyone tell me what that is about please?

My boot springs were also moved to the 2nd further setting, works well. I honestly do not know if it can be clipped into that top portion, think it will bend upwards?

On the mesh grills.. on my previous F30 320d I did spray them gloss black, removed them, gave them a few coats plus clear and then put them back.. But it can be a mission to remove and put back.. If you feel like just freshening them up, silicone spray works but definitely not a permanent solution!

Hi all. (lotsa pictures)

So my car has been at BMW since I bought it from them more than I care to mention tbh...but at least they've given me no nonsense about sorting out the niggles and have given me a courtesy car every time so I must commend them for that.

1. The car had a shudder on the brakes - they fitted new disks and pads in the front. Sorted after two attempts.
2. The rear bumper kept jumping out of its clip and so the boot lid closed on it making a mark. They fixed the bumper and re-sprayed it but the re-spray was not done right so second attempt now it looks perfect.
3. Vibration on the steering wheel - did wheel balancing and wheel alignment twice - now sorted.
4. The rear tires were running down on the inside to the point where the thread indicator was flush with the running service. I did inquire about the tires before I bought. They offered to take a set of Bridgestones which was from another car I assume and put it on mine. I accepted and they are on 4 and 5mm. Only down side is I now have Eagles up front and Potenzas at the back. Might sell the Potenzas to help buy a new set of Eagles so they match again.
5. Centre console had wear and tear on so they replaced it albeit from another car but it looks new so its OK.

All in all 3 months later and 3 courtesy cars later (316, 118 and X1 2.0d) I think the niggles are all sorted.

I am still on the look out for a set of 442's but I thought it a good idea to give my set of 403's a clean. Now the normal rims cleaner does not get the black stuff off the times...I think the previous owner never ever cleaned them. I bought a Dremel polishing tool with the polishing bits but even on its slowest speed its still too fast and will burn the rim's paint. I bought some fine grit polishing compound and cleaned on rim today...what you see below is almost 4 hours worth of elbow grease and I only did the outside. The inside also needs to be done as you can see the dirt through the spokes and looks like half a job. My fingers simnply could not go anymore.

Honestly I cannnot see myself do another 12 hours to do the other 3...there must be a smarter way - any advice?

Then my number plates have been bugging me big time. The front one was attached to a number plate holder which was attached to the black fitting that is attached to the bumper. First I get a new set made. Then I drilled out the rivets and removed the plastic number plate holder and cleaned everything. Then I riveted the new plate diretly on tot the black fitting that is screwed to the bumper.

whatsapp image 2020-01-11 at 18.28.21(2)_7530164932.jpeg

The rear one is also riveted to a plastic number plate holder and the holder is screwed in to the car. The stupid plate holder moves from side to side and scratches the paint and also vibrates when you close the boot. So I removed everything...cleaned it all and used double sided take to fix the plate holder to the car along with the screws so that it doesn't vibrate and then fitted the new plate to the holder with rivets. Honestly looks so much better now. Below is the res-sprayed bumper and the new plate.

I am gonna pop past The 357 and find out about paint treatment for the car. Still on the list are: front lip, rear diffuser, side skirt extensions, 442 rims.

That is a lot items they needed to sort but glad they are sorted.. The Tyre wear is consistent with BMW though, the rears will wear on the inside, your outside will srill look perfect. The front tyres will wear on the outside, especially if you corner rough. The rears have always done that on all BMWs I have owned, the fronts only on my F30 with the 19s, others wear flat.

Agree that the previous owner perhaps did not clean those rims right, that is a lot of hours to put in for 1 rim.. What I usually do (when time allows) is to remove each rim and clean it off the car with a pressure washer and soft brushes, that does the trick too, took me a couple of hours to do all 4.. That is the only way to clean the inside of the rim as well. Think mine needs that again!

But the work is worth it, good to see the pride you put into your car! All the best, it is looking good, may she treat you well!

Funny thing is my uncle said the same thing about his previous BMW's...that the rears wear out on the inside. I generally don't corner hard as I try save the bearings, tires etc. Think I am gonna remove one rim at a time as well - will be a much easier job! And thanks...want my car to look sharp.

Thanks Kyle - will this take the dirt off that the normal Wynns rim cleaner doesn't? If so I will order a bottle and then take one rim off at a time and clean it with this stuff.

It will definitely work 100000x better than Wynns

Thanks Kyle...will order. Honestly my fingers won't last another 3 rims polishing with the compound...my finger will all be at least an inch shorter hahahaha.

PART 2 - cleaning my rims!

So I ordered the 'Iron Out' product from Kyle...and I can honestly say it works perfectly. Today I managed to clean all 4 rims in roughly the same time it took me last time to clean just the outside of the one rim. His product works for sure. I took one rim off at a time, hosed it down, sprayed the Iron Out on, let it sit for 5 or so mins, used a brush and sponge and then rinsed them off. Used a little more on smaller sports and rinsed off one more time and ta-da!
