So finally got rid of the Freeloader and this is the new practical family wagon:)

I did a lot of research on family SUVs and nought comes close in terms of price, value, performance, etc, etc...

So far it has ticked all the boxes on comfort power and economy. 8.8l/100km from cape town to Villiersdorp (driving like a granny due to newborn on board). But mostly at the speedlimit. Overtaking is a cinch.

80km of bad gravel road over new years and the handling was superb. I had to throttle back due to white knuckled passengers. And as for stability on bad roads... Wow. Even with the big wheels tramlining on the uneven sections... I was comfortable at high speed on Darlings bad country backroads.

Stunning car.
Still have a soft spot for these cars, albeit that it'll most likely look like Im driving Daddy's car should I get behinad the wheel

Very nice car, tons of power too.

In my experience of driving them offroad "rally style" or at a bit of pace they suffer from what feels like a weird power distribution to the wheels, car almost feels like it is having a minor tank slapper off the throttle before a corner etc.

However I doubt you will be driving it like i was then! A 17 year old with permission to rip a farm up!

Great car, great motor!

Many happy miles sir!

Not quite rally style, but I was getting there when I was alone:rollsmile:

I did feel the power distribution coming in "uneven". On a long sweep where I was probably slightly fast it got abit out of shape before settling into the corner... which I then felt confident enough to power out of the apex...

I have a very uneven driveway... I can put a wheel in the air if I take it at an angle and it sat an span for good few seconds before the power was transferred to another wheel.

It got stuck in the sand in Darling... for a second before it got its ducks in a row and then just climbed out...

Car will be staying stock standard...

I have also been instructed to make it clear to the forum it is my wife's car... :blab:

Still very happy. Monday it is having its service, buff and bonnet resprayed because of a dent.

Very annoying airbag light that comes on randomly, and a shudder high speed breaking. But all to be sorted out at the service.
