Does BMW use a universal rail spec, you can drop in virtually any seat and only the wiring loom may need adjusting?

Nope, the coupe's have the seat belts mounted to the body so the rails from a saloon will need to be fitted to replace the outer rails of both seats for the seat belts to bolt to. Either that, or some fab work will need to take place to modify the M3 coupe outer rails.

The seats do fit as is, just you can't bolt the seat belts.

Took the opportunity to clean the passenger seat today, here is the result:

You can see the damage from stuff being dumped and let on the seats:

And some wiring that was cut for some reason:

Not too concerned, will use them as is for now and then re-cover them in due course in beige nappa. I think the passenger seat is the worse off of the two seats. Will run through and check all operations this weekend.

The M3 was a scrapped car so the seats had been sat in the car with no sunroof so all the crap and rain came through the roof. Then the seats were removed and stored in a shed with stuff piled all over them, hence the state of them. Other than that, they were probably in really good nick prior to the car being scrapped.

My bad. I didn't see the older posts. I'll try give the PDC thing a bash and see if succeed. Yep gizmo the reverse lights do work.

Ok, seat colour change out of the question. 12.5k for Nappa leather recovering, or 5.2k normal leather.

The good news is that the 'dents' on the leather can be removed and what I thought to be a tear in the leather was actually some sort of bitumen which has now been removed. So, all in, looks like only a few panels need replacing in total.

Seems that a complete interior colour change is now in order, so will be looking for black door cards, dash, centre console and rear seats. Very costly, but not going to remove the Nappa leather on the seats to normal leather which will end up costing more than the interior bits. I already have the anthracite roof lining, carpets and all the lower black plastics.

I've never heard of a re-dye that actually lasted, hence why i never even considered that option.

Ouch, pricing for parts for the interior colour change is coming out around the 6k mark....... And that's excluding the lower plastics and carpets which I have already. Even selling my seats at say, 3k, I am only half way and then I still need to have a few of the panels on the M3 seats repaired for probably around 2k.

Unless I can find someone who wants to go beige interior.:crazylaugh:

I think I need to look at the option of selling the M3 seats, either that or just drive around with them as is and then change parts over as I go in the future. Really bummed about this as I really like the M3 seats and am all set for the wiring.

Mmmmm, decisions, decisions.

While on the subject of the seats, two of the motors on the passenger seat, backwards and forwards and the rear up and down, were non functional, so sending them in tomorrow to get them refurbed with new brushes, etc. Should have those by the weekend. The rest of the functions on the seats work perfectly.

I am still awaiting the terminals from Germany to complete the PDC retrofit, so apart from the engine now complete with start and alternator, not much else has happened.

Coming along nicely it seems.

I would keep the M3 seats and get parts when you can for the black interior, no need to have everything all at once.

Once its all done you will be really glad you were patient as it will look beautiful. :praise:

Went and drove a new Jeep yesterday thinking about upgrading mine. Apart from the frightening price, one thing that struck me was how dark the interior was in all black. Not sure I like it to be honest. My present Jeep has Saddle Brown seats and door cards and it works so well.

This is what I was hoping to achieve before I got the M seats:

All the back order parts ave arrived, will pick up Friday morning. Should hopefully have the OEM harnesses for the seats Friday too. So if all goes well, car should be running again this weekend. Holding thumbs for that.

I don't know why I like that because every bone in my body says that I shouldn't but it looks damn hot if you ask me.
