The Era of Bench Flashing has Returned

Holy crap this thread is growing like a virus.

My accounting brain is just thinking: Cost of repairs due to modifying cars on motorplan vs cost BMW saved by catching and cancelling motor plans?

I did software on my 335i in its last few months of motorplan and was terrified when I took it in for its final service etc. I can't imagine the stress having a new car with 5 years motor plan that could be cancelled. Big balls or more money than sense?

I believe EVERYTHING is detectible by BMW if they dig hard enough. Hopefully you never give them a reason to dig that much.

I think everyone in this thread is correct (sent from Switzerland while sitting on a fence)

If you mod, thats your business.

Hiding mods, for whatever reason, is unethical.

The motorplan should be revoked, and its remainder given back to the owner.

GG to OP for the skill.

Sherwin back to topic, shouldn't an M135i be making more than 190kw stock ? I made 216wkw bone stock. Also if possible can you get one of your m135/m235i customers to take me for a spin ? I would like to feel the power difference

Thanks!

I went for a drive in one.... The antilag is enough to make you want to do it (excluding Gizmo obviously).

LMAO

+1 Its awsome.

I really love how people are just assuming that all modded cars break or will break...

Of the 10s of thousands of performance cars they sell year on year in S.A alone, how many cars motorplans were just cancelled due to the mods being found out without the car breaking? And how many cars have broken due to mods? And how many were cancelled just because of plain stupidity?
Where's those stats at, we'd like to see them.

Also making BMW out to be angels when they've costed many a customer 100s of thousands, till today even, on rebuilds due to S54, S65 and S85s breaking in the normal course, which BMW still REFUSE to accept liability for.

On the subject of price increases, modding or not, exchange rate fluctuations or not, no matter what, BMW will still have fat price increases QUARTERLY.

So lets face it, the bottom line is, "ethical" or not, people are still going to be modding whether Sherwin had advertised his service or not and in all honestly, they won't be reading any of this and won't care about anyone's opinion...

Hi there, this dyno has been calibrated to read extremely stingy. M4 competition packs make 280wkw on this dyno now.

@Sherwin: Well done. Out of interest will you also be offering services to unlock ECU's if someone were to want to use something like PTF's bootmod3 app/maps?

Thank Acheron, sorry I missed your question in the mountain of politics on this thread.

Unfortunately, the tool I use does not do a firmware patch unlock of the ECU. So I have to open the ECU each time I want to write a map.

There reason for this is the patch unlock CAN easily be picked up by a BMW scan. It's actually part of their protocol to check for any firmware patches to the ECU.

So the pro of that method is that it's a once-off opening of the ECU, patching it and all further map writes are via the port.

The con is that it's immediately identifiable. I have the CMD tool that can do those, so I suppose I could do it if someone wanted.

Have you guys gotten around the apparent fueling limits around 400HP on the 40i models?

From what I understand over at N54tech is that once you start adding a fueling at certain level, the DME cuts boost? However, adding fuel externally, like with WMI, you can keep adding boost.

My 1st post is also lost here.. 300wkw from just SW is great for the N55.. Do you mod the gearbox software too? To kick the power in later gears? Only reason I ask is that I battle with grip on a stock car on hard pullaway, guess you need to also run some semi's? Also wanted to know if PWG or EWG

Sorry bud, I missed a lot. That car had downpipe but it had it for the stock power run as well.

There is no gearbox software for the M135 that I'm aware of.

Yeah you gonna' need semi's to get a good launch with the torque these cars make.

That car was EWG if I remember correctly, have done so many the last few weeks.

Thanks for the info, these are phenomenal gains! Congrats on the numbers :cartel:

Guess the only Gearbox SW is then to always get the latest ones from BMW for now!

AFAIK my car is an EWG too, good to see what these motors can do.. Thanks for sharing the graphs. :coolShake:
